Can you smoke at the the Banthai, Patong?
I'm pretty sure like the rest of Phuket, it is compulsory to smoke at Banthai. Especially at breakfast, where it can waft into the faces of the other diners. Seriously, I've never had a breakfast (on outside tables) in Phuket without cigarette smoke in the air.
Properly seriously, there will be smoking and non-smoking rooms (or blocks); you will be able to smoke anywhere outdoors; smoking is technically banned in any areas that are enclosed/indoors. So if you are in a restaurant with three walls surrounding you, but the front is open to the outside, you will find that people will be smoking. Phuket is nirvana for smokers.Edited: 08 January 2013, 22:15
You certainly can. We were unable to book a non smoking room at the Banthai.
Have always had a non smoking room there.
Us too we have stayed there 3 times & had non smoking every time & to be honest cant recal much smoke around outside areas.
There are 3 blocks of accommodation 2 for smokers and one is for non-smokers. Happy planning..
Would you be able to tell me which block is the non smoking. We are going as a big group and have some smokers with us, so don't want to book the non smoking block.
