Resort Day Pass near Suva

My husband and I will be arriving in Suva via cruise ship January 2024. We are in our 60’s and looking to spend a quiet day at the beach. Beach chairs and shade would be appreciated. Are there any resorts within a “short” taxi ride to the pier that offer an inclusive “day pass”? Thanks!

This question was posted many years ago and did not get any responses relating to day passes in Suva.

The closest swimming beach from Suva is 45 minutes away at Pacific Harbour and do note that taxi drivers in Fiji only take cash.

You could look at the following companies and they maybe able to work something out for you.

https://bulataxi.com/ (Epic tours and transfers)

Hope this helps.

Hi Kristin, welcome to the forum.

The Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbor allows day trippers. The downside, the resort is about an hours drive from Suva. There is a FJD15 charge per adult, and FJD10 for children for using the pool. You can use the beach, but unfortunately kayaks, etc. are for guests only.

I would suggest you contact the resort for information on beach chairs, and other questions you might have.

Another resort in Pacifc Harbor you might check out regarding day trippers is The Pearl.

As mentioned, you will need FJD for taxis as the drivers don't take credit cards. Be sure to get some bills in small dominations as your driver may not be able to make change. Also know, when paying for meals, souvenirs etc., by credit card, businesses/resorts charge a fee of around 3%. Some charge more, others less. This is in addition to any fees that might be charged by your bank or credit card company.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your short stay in paradise.

Thank you for the wonderful information!

I reached out to the Nanuku Resort about the possibility of a “day visit”. They will arrange private transportation to and from the property for FJD 300. Use of the pool, beach, non motorized water sports and a 2 course lunch would be F$ 95 per person. The property looks amazing. We will probably arrange our own taxi, but I think we will do this. Thank you for all the helpful hints regarding credit card usage and carrying cash.

My pleasure Kristin, glad the information was helpful.

With 1 USD being worth a little more than 2FJD, that is an excellent deal. I would take it in a heartbeat. Nanuku is a much more upscale resort than the others, and has excellent reviews. Am sure you will have a wonderful time at the resort.

Fiji is a beautiful country, with a interesting culture, and the most genuinely, friendly, caring, happiest people on the planet. Don't be surprised, if you find yourself wanting to return for a longer visit.

One more thought in case you are thinking about tipping your waiter/waitress for lunch. Tipping in Fiji is nothing like in the states where everyone gets tipped. There is no tipping of individuals at Nanuku. Instead, the resort has a Christmas Fund you can contribute to. The money collected during the year is distributed between all the staff: bartenders, chefs, waitstaff, groundskeepers, housekeepers, activities crew, etc.
