Tainan HSR station is in Gueiren Township (outside Tainan city). Board the free shuttle bus to Tainan downtown. Travel time: About 30~35 mins.

The free shuttle bus to and from Tainan HSR Station will stop at the bus stop across the roundabout from Tainan Railway Station.

You can also take TRA Shalun Line directly from HSR Tainan to TRA Tainan Railway Station. The train runs about every 30 minutes.

i would also recommend that TRA shalun line train from HSR to train station. it's much faster than the bus, and inexpensive.

I know this is a bit of an old thread....

I am planning to do a day trip from Taipei to Tainan by HSR. Current thought is to take a train around 8 AM arriving Tainan HSR station a little before 10, go see the city for the day and return via HSR to Taipei around 19:00.

If I take the linking train between the HSR station and the main train station is it possible to get around to the main sights on foot or otherwise easily? I do not speak the language and will be traveling solo.
