Visa on Arrival Experiences. Risky?

Hello All.

I'm a New Zealander in Australia who will be landing in Delhi next month. As a tourist visa is nearly twice the price here and involves putting details into what seems like a dodgy website I thought it might be worth it to get a VOA. I don't mind if it takes a few hours in the airport, I have to wait 5 for my friend to arrive anyway. What concerns me is being denied. Anyone's experience with this system would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I think you will need to apply visa in Australia and VOA is only for a few countries. Cheers !

If you have NZ passport, you can get VOA and it won't be denied unless you have not followed visa rules or have done any crime . However authorities reserve rights to refuse or accept your application.

Cheers

Hi J C,

You can get VOA at Delhi airport, no problem. Check this post about someone else's experience.

Good to know that it is possible for NZ to get visa on arrival. Good luck and i think it shouldn't be difficult for you to get visa.

Did it in Kolkata, we travel on NZ passports, it was very easy but time consuming, take passport photos. I was under the impression that US Dollars were OK but I had to be escorted to the money changer to get Rupee, that was the biggest time waster. Just follow the instructions on India Immigration website.

Also we had some trouble convincing the check in staff at Bangkok that we could get VOA, I took print outs of India immigration website but they didn't really have any idea.

Yesterday i was reading in news paper that now they will be naming it "Visa on line" not "Visa on arrival".
