Hi Jeni,

Have a look at Caloundra - particularly Rolling Surf Apartments at Kings Beach. It is perfect for families with little ones, and the apartments are a decent size. Depending on budget, you can get ocean views too.

There are a couple of Cafes underneath, Coles do home delivery groceries, and there is an "Ocean pool" that is great for the kitties if the surf is a bit rough. Oh, there is also a great water play fountain in the park too.

Cheers.

We've just returned from a holiday at Kings Beach in Caloundra with a 1 and 3 year old. It is great for young kids - very family friendly.

Hi Jeni

I'd suggest you look at two places to stay with your one year old.

First - Caloundra, but rather the Golden Beach area. Here the waters are calm as they are in the Pumicestone Passage. There are lots of apartments to choose from in that area - Gemini Apartments and Worldmark being two to start with. A little bit further away are the Jetty Apartments - lovely spacious apartments right on the water with huge pool. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the area.

Second - and possibly better, would be Noosaville (not Noosa). Noosaville is on the Noosa River, again has very calm water, and there's lots of interest such as pelicans and other wildlife which your little one would enjoy. There are lots of apartments along the river with fabulous views and great walks. There are picnic tables and barbecues along the river and lots and lots of restaurants.

Have a look at this link to see available apartments. There are, of course, other agents and some apartments have on-site managers.

I've visited both areas lots of times so if you've any other queries please ask and I'll do my best to help.

Hi again Jeni

The places I usually stay are probably not suitable for a 1 year old - stairs to climb to the apartments or decks not fenced for safety.

Have a look at Regatta Apartments - most will have river views.

Or have a look at Outrigger Resort (the Gympie terrace one) or Sandy Beach Resort. The accommodation in both is very good although the majority of the apartments don't have views.

All three have on-site managers.

You could also look at this one - excellent accommodation in a gated community. Right on Gympie Terrace but set back from the traffic - but no river views.

Something to bear in mind is that you can often negotiate the price of a 3 bedroom apartment if you're only going to be using 2 bedrooms.

But you're quite right - the choice of apartments is huge. But hopefully this will help a little.

just be careful because september is school holidays and will be very busy if you book during that period. try to book either side would be better (and cheaper)

That's a good point, Fleurger

The states vary a bit, but the QLD and NSW holidays run from 18 September to 6 October.
