Hi ppl I have to Coolum beach in February which was the dogs ? Weather was great ! I’m looking at going in June next year I no it’s the winter months then but was wondering if I would see and beach weather 👍
Not sure of the full meaning of your question.
June in Queensland will be warm by your standards and the weather is usually clear blue skies so lovely for the beachduring the day.
Cheers.
What I meant was that June July August is the winter months over there I do believe so just wondered if it would be raining a kite ! But thank you for your reply 👍
No, our winters are usually dry. The only ones who swim at that time in the ocean are o/seas visitors, and Victorians (hah, sorry Vics)
Weather in Queensland is usually mild in winter compared to the southern states of Oz. It often busier in tourist trade as we see an influx of tourists from the southern states and New Zealand.
If you want to “tough it out” and swim in the ocean you would need a wet suit. You would also need to be selective of the beach and time of day you enter the water as not all beaches are patrolled and the ones that are patrolled usually have reduced hours compared to summer days. So swim between the flags and talk with lifeguards before entering the water. If they know your there they can keep a closer eye on you.
That said, in winter the swell is usually greater so surfboard rider can rejoice. Winter Surf’s up Big Kahuna!!
Hope this helps.
Coolum Beach has professional lifeguards every day of the year. We are in the last week of May now and the sea surface temp is 24 degrees so unlikely to drop more than a couple of degrees more over next few weeks through June. Seasons do vary so I can't predict what next year will be like.
Yep, water on the Sunshine Coast is beautiful at the moment - a bit brisk when you first dive in, but if you are body surfing you won't need a wet suit.
cheers.
