road conditions between broken hill & tibooburra

We will be staying at Broken Hill during May 2014 and intend travelling to Tibooburra & then on to Cameron Corner so we are wondering about the road conditions in these areas. We will be travelling in a 2WD vehicle. Any advice is appreciated thankyou, Joan

Read the thread Gueen as Luigi suggests.

However, if you travel during daylight hours and it hasn't been raining - you won't have an issue with 2WD vehicles to Tib

On your arrival in Broken Hill, call in at the Visitor Information Centre Cnr Blende and Bromide Streets (https://www.travelin.com.au/go/broken-hill), for up to the date information on road conditions. The road is entirely driveable in 2WD, but keep in mind that the 50km or so that is gravel can occasionally be in poor condition e.g. corrugations, waves/dips, stony sections and dust, dust, and more dust! Dust is especially a menace if a large 4WD comes thundering down the road. It is best to pull over for these (locals, but more often careless 'grey nomads') as stone damage can occur to cars (windscreens, etc.) and the dust is abominable.

If it rains, consider putting off travel for a couple of days, but again, the Visitor Information Centre will have a direct line to Tibooburra contacts for opinion.

Watch for wandering animals too!!
