we are in Cesenatico for a soccer tournament early July, for 1 week. Any ideas?
Cesenatico is a great town with some great sporting and leisure facilities. The beach itself is a great place to spend a day for R&R and there is always something going on somewhere in town. If you are looking for historical stuff there is the town of Ravenna nearby famous for its Mosaics, and a little further a field is the city of Bologna. There are also a number of theme parks to go to - Mirabilandia (near Ravenna) a full blown theme park with some great rides and attractions, Italia in Miniatura (ss16 road towards Rimini) with a miniature village and other attractions, within cesenatico is the Atlantica water park and a huge one further down the coast at Riccione called Acquafan. If you have transport dont forget to visit the Colline (the foothills of the Appenines) just 15km's inland with hundreds of little hilltop villages. The Republic of San Marino is about 1 hours drive (head down the coast to Rimini and you cant miss it - it is on a huge rock to your right). Its an independent republic and there is plenty to see and do there as well as some great duty free shopping. Dont forget to visit the Porto Canale area of Cesenatico (the old Port) and If you are feeling very adventurous you can take a boat trip to Rimini, Venice or even Croatia for the day. Have fun!
