In Paphos now, near the harbour, and really struggling to find good restaurants open. Really shocked to see how quiet the place is in the evening and so few people in the limited number of restaurants and bars open. The weather is lovely and really thought it would attract the same sort of numbers as the Canaries. Any advice where to go, even if we need to travel. Would love some authentic Cypriot cuisine.

Cyprus is not a winter sun destination like the Canaries and the tourist areas are pretty quiet out of season, and much is closed. But Paphos town is a working town with restaurants open all year. Try Palia Ilektriki, Koutourou Ouzeri (book) or The Mansion of Stavroula (all on Google Maps).

Look to the streets towards back of harbour & bar st.

There's Argo, Agapinor, meeting pub, mikeys, keg & Barrel, Mr woo, curry house ,delhi gate, Pinguino, tea for two.

When we visit during the winter months we always stay HB as some years the weather can be dreadful in the evening, We usually manage to sit outside on the seafront or at the harbour for lunch but don’t often leave our warm & cosy hotel in the evening. I think its probably quiet because lots if people do a similarly thing to us.

Take a cab up to the old town and give Agora a go. It’s meat or veg mezze and just lovely with great views (get there before sunset for these), very good food and really nice people. Wines are sourced from the smaller local vineyards and are very good and the total cost won’t break the bank. Call first to make sure they’re open to save a wasted trip.

We was at a place called Taverna Picnic tonight on the outskirts of barstreet, a little out the way. A really authentic looking Taverna and we had the meat mixed grill for two, came on a sizzling skillet, and was massive also a huge bowl of salad, and bread with home made chips on the skillet too.

Place was well recommended but empty, probably because its out of season, but if you want an authentic Taverna with great food at a reasonable price I'd highly recommended.

Best to do what we do and use Google maps for directions
