4 nights in Bologna in April. Day trip & itinerary advice
Save

I have now booked four nights in Bologna. We arrive Thursday April 11th and fly home Monday 15th. ( Me, my wife, a 16YO & 18YO)

I am considering two day trips while I am there which will leave 1.5 days for Bologna and probably every evening there too. Is that enough ?

I would like to do either Venice or Florence one day and if the weather is reasonable, visit the coast.

I have never been to Florence or Venice so can't decide what will suit us best. The train looks much quicker to Florence. Any thoughts ?

For the trip to the coast, I was looking at Papeete Beach or around Milano Marittima. This looks like 20 min walk from the train station. Will there be much open in April and will there be things to do and see?

I am open to suggestions for the beach trip? any thoughts or advice?

Thanks

With 4 nights in Bologna, a day trip to Florence and Venice is enough, otherwise you won't have time to see bologna itself.

As for the coast in April especially before Easter there's nothing special to see, a trip for the sea itself off season is not worthwhile.

But if you want to go to the sea at any cost choose Rimini instead at least you will have also the nice ancient Town to visit.

Milano Marittima will be rather quiet. The nearbye area of Cervia opens for the International kite Festival on 20th April.

I agree with the comments above. Also you can fly directly to the coast from April to October (Stansted - Rimini) so I would leave the beach for another holidays.

I do not suggest a day trip to Florence, Florence is an amazing city and needs much more than one day, Venice is more suitable for this option and the regional train costs less than the fast train to Florence.
