How was it last summer? I'm planning to visit Italy in July and it will be really hot I think. Is there any hope that you can walk outside (or on not crowded streets) without masks in the middle of the summer?

Italy was a disaster zone last summer. It was the worst affected in Europe with Covid

Not true. Last summer, Italy had very low COVID contagion numbers, and indeed reached absolute low numbers for daily deaths, daily new cases, daily hospitalizations and daily ICU admissions.

HOWEVER, Italy paid a very heavy price for having relaxed restrictions too soon and too aggressively, beginning in October, when the numbers began shooting up dramatically, reaching absolute highs in November.

GAC is absolutely correct in what he says about last year and the situation in Italy.

It's already quite warm here (nudging 30C) and, yes, it is uncomfortable wearing a mask outside at midday. Now, there is speculation that IF case numbers continue to improve and the vaccine roll-out (which is improving daily) progresses per the schedule the government might (might) relax the rules about mask wearing outside, a date of mid-July is being mentioned but, as I say, it's currently only speculation.
