Train between Sevilla and Madrid

First, what is the best way to travel from Madrid airport to city of Madrid; our hotel is near Atocha Rail Station. We have three days planned in Madrid, then 6 days in Sevilla. Day trips from Madrid to Segovia and Toledo (we have purchased these rail tickets).

We plan to go to Sevilla from Madrid via AVE train. What advice would you offer for purchasing tickets now or at the station a few days prior to our travel to Sevilla? Would you purchase tickets directly from RENFE?

Thank you in advance....

best way imho to go from airport to near Atocha Rail Station is like C-1 of Cercanias trains, that go from Terminal 4 in the airport to Atocha train station. It costs 2.6 euros and it takes 30 mins. Otherwise you can also take the bus (5 euros, also to Atocha), the metro (with 2 changes) or a taxi (30 euros)

If you buy your train tickets from renfe (or loco2) as soon as they get available, you'll be saving money. AVE train tickets follow an occupancy pricing system similar to plane tickets, so you pay the web discount price if you arrive early, and then prices will go (considerably) up from there, peaking at 3/4 times the first price if you wait to last moment (few days prior is usually considered last moment)
