If you do not have a local telephone ..... how would you call a hotel near the Barcelona Airport to be picked up at the airport. Are there pay phones? Are there courtesy hotel phones at the airport?
Thanks for any feedback.

There are pay phones at the airport. You can use coins (Euros), a credit card or a call card.
They are available all over the airport, including in the baggage claim area and in the arrival hall.
I'm not sure why you are opting for an airport hotel . A taxi to/from Plaça Espanya in Barcelona takes about 20 minutes to/from terminal 1 so you might consider staying somewhere which gives you a glimpse of the city too
As Lynda says, most airport hotels will take as long to get to as the city (or longer if you need to wait for a shuttle). Just hop into a taxi (about 30€) or the Aerobus (5,90€/p.) and go into the city. You'll be there in 20 minutes.
Edited: 9 years agoWhy an airport hotel, just get the bus or train intoo the city, and stay in a hotel there, that way you can see the city, and can have more choice in eating and drinking out, rather than being confined to a hotel, the airport hotel shuttles, usualy take flight details off you,and don't require you to ring them for this reason, they send the shuttles for flight arrivals etc but however there may be a bus waiting when you arrive, but you may not leave straight away,as if other flights due,it will wait for them,so you could be sat on a shuttle for some time waiting for others.Either get a taxi to the hotel,or do as I've allready suggested and stay in the city, and get the bus or train.
