The check-in process at BCN can only be described as madness. Iberia is just an inefficient process, Lufthansa is just a nightmare. After not being able to check-in online (this was a United reservation), we arrived 3 hours early, to no avail. There was a single line that became just a sea of hundreds of people pushing, screaming and fighting. No help from Lufthansa employees. The "self" check in machines are a joke. It took us 2 hours of pushing in line to finally complete our check in, of coarse to sit separately all 4 family members. Then very few options for food, etc. Rude personnel. If you HAVE to use BCN, especially if you're using Lufthansa, get there EXTRA early, be prepared to fight and push, expect no courtesy or civility. It's survival of the fittest. Beautiful building BCN, but poorly organized and run.

Sorry you have such bad experient. My checkin with Vueling was much better than my experience with the US airlines. We got to the airport 2 hours early but it only took us 20 minutes to checkin and go through security.

Oh yikes! Sorry you had such a dreadful end of your Barcelona experience. I've only flown out of BCN three times (twice with Iberia, once with Pakistan Air) and not had long lines for any of them (I'd say under 15 minutes for check-in, under 5 for security). The one significant problem we had was Pakistan Air not posting an update about a delayed flight. We and many other folks on are flight showed up a few hours before the scheduled time to learn that the flight was delayed by ~6 hours. At least they gave us meal tickets. Grrr...

Must've been a large plane to accommodate those hoards.

Wasn't too bad down at Aer Fungus though.

Sorry to hear of your experience..
