Which area/arrondissements for first timer?

We enjoy eating and sightseeing. Not picky in terms of food, just has to be delicious. Areas with a wide variety of restaurants would be great. Not very interested in shopping. Planning to stay 5-6 days. Open to suggestions as I am in the preliminary stages of planning. Thank you,

If you were to stay in the 6th somewhere between the Blvd. St. Germain and the river at about the Pont des Arts, you could have a nice dinner each night without venturing more than a about six or eight blocks away.

I'd choose the 4th, 5th or 6th as near to the river as you can afford.

We like the 5th on the outskirts of the touristed area. But some of our favorite restaurants are in the 4th and 6th (walking distance, as in maybe a mile).

Delicious is really subjective. Some people go to Paris to eat delicious scrambled eggs. I like steak tartare, french fries (it's a vacation) and ice cream.

I agree with LeBiscuit D, 4th and 5th, don't know the 6th.

Google/Street View the rue Saint Dominque in the 7th. My first stay was, as pjk suggests, off of the Blvd St Germain in the 6th...an excellent choice. But we spent more time in the 7th once we discovered its treasures.

What time of year are you going? If you want to share your nightly budget, I'm sure you'd get some helpful hotel recommendations!

I am thinking of going in September and budget-wise, I was hoping to stay within the nightly range of $250-$400. I know this is some last minute trip-planning but any recommendations for hotels would be greatly appreciated! Thank you again!

Is that 250-400 in Canadian $$'s or euros? If CAD, that's about 160€-260€, which will get you a totally different type of hotel than 400€ will get you!
