I have booked a one night stay at this hotel. Was hoping to have a meal in the pub but have read a lot of negative reviews about the food. Any one had a meal there and found it lacking or is it ok?

If not good is there another place close by?

Any info welcome.

Thanks

Wendy

The food is ok. It's your typical chain pub menu. A carvery, pies, steaks, lasagne, that sort of stuff.

We go once or twice a year and it's alright for a quick, cheap and cheerful meal when you can't be bothered to cook after a long day at work. It gets very busy Sunday lunchtime.

Not a place for a special meal I'd suggest.

There's no other pubs in the immediate vicinity I'd recommend to be honest. Presumably you will have a car, so maybe head the couple of miles south down the A6 to Shardlow or Aston on Trent where there are several good pubs that serve food.

Thanks for that. Not after a special meal. Just a quick decent meal, leaving the hotel at 3.30 for early flight from East Midlands. Will risk it.
