Quiet dog friendly pub Saturday nights

Anyone recommend a quiet ( ish ) pub for Saturday nights in Derby ( Walking distance from Train station) that we can take a dog in?

Not after anything special

Just a pint and preferably a seat

The Brunswick Inn is superb and historic, but fairly popular so it may be busy. The Alexandra Hotel is round the corner and may be quieter - very unpretentious old drinking pub, with lots of railway memorabilia.

The Victoria and the Merry Widows are even closer, right opposite the station, but I've never been in, so can't comment on the pubs or dog policy. But you could try them.

The Smithfield might be ok until about 8.00pm. After this they have some music on. It’s about 10 minutes from the station - turn right out the station and walk about 200 yards. Walk under the flyover, bear left, then follow the riverside path. Go over the second bridge you come to then turn left. It’s about 100 yards further on.

It’s the Derby pub of the year and has a decent seating area outside overlooking the river which is nice if weather is ok.

If it gets too noisy then you could walk towards town and just the other side of the ring road is The Peacock on Old Nottingham Road which could be suitable.
