Gaelic football ....where to watch

We were in Dublin in September of 2013 and had the opportunity to watch the match between Mayo and Dublin at a pub in Temple Bar. We are coming back to Dublin this September and will be there the weekend of the finals. From what I am reading it sounds like the Temple Bar area is even more touristy than last time we were there, can any one recommend a good local pub to hang out in and watch this years final?

Thanks

If, as appears very likely, Dublin are involved, there will be a big screen, open air, in Smithfield. Good fun.

Great thank you! We had such a good time in 2013 watching the match, can't wait to be there again!

We were in Dublin for the Gaelic Football semi-final match in 2013. We stayed away from the Temple bar and went to The Porterhouse Pub on Nassau Street near Trinity University. The place was crowded, but bearable. Mostly locals. After the match, we went to the Brazenhead Pub (Dublin's oldest pub). The place was packed with people wearing team colors and celebrating the great match.

When are the finals this year? We will be in Dublin Aug 25-30 and catching a match in a Pub could be fun.

And if Dublin aren't involved, you'll get a ticket.
