Hello experts,

I will he travelling next week and looking for a budget hotel ideally near Pearson Airport or closer to the lake. Should have easy access to public transport. Shopping and night life would add value.

Thanks in advance

What is your budget? Sometimes you will find nicer accommodation in B&Bs or private hostel rooms than in lower end hotels.

You won't find shopping or nightlife near the airport unfortunately.

You will however find Semi-easy transport connections with the UPexpress trains.

How long are you staying and what is your budget?

It would also help to know why you want to be close to the airport. Are you working near there? If it's just because you don't want to travel far after arriving, do note that there is an express train from the airport to the city center.

But you also say you would be happy to be close to the lake. In Toronto, the lakefront is not one homogenous area. If you are close to the lake then you could be in a residential area or a commercial area or an industrial area. What is it you want to experience by staying close to the lake? It almost doesn't matter because most hotels close to the lake will be in Toronto's downtown, which is also where you'll find shopping, nightlife, and most tourist attractions. There is very little out by the airport hotels and it is not a very walkable area.

Toronto has many great neighborhoods so you'll find shopping and nightlife in many parts of the city. However with some exceptions those areas won't have hotels. You may luck out with a bnb or a legal airbnb.

A nice option for a lower cost hotel outside of downtown but still in a walkable area full of restaurants is the Novotel North York.

Hotels near bodies of water are almost always more expensive, no matter the country. Find a Bnb that fits your budget or look into a hostel

Pearson airport is not anywhere near the lake so I’m confused by your two location options?
