Lake Louise 1 & 3/4 days no car help pls

Staying at the Post House in lake Louise village 2 nights. So have 2 days but leaving 4.30pm on day 2.

We are not driving.

Advice pls on getting around and what to do appreciated.

We like walking (maybe 2hrs ish) want nature and scenery rather than shops.

One question would be can we walk to ll. from the post house hotel and would that be scenic?

Bears is it a safe route?

Would like to see Moraine lake as well as L.L. Would gondola.be a good option? How can we get from one place to another? Would like a walk on both days?

Thanks in advance and no detail too small.

(For context we are travelling straight in from uk to LL (shuttle) we are then taking coach trf to Jasper for 3 nights before tour back to Banff for 4 nights)

While there is a trail you can take from the village to Lake Louise, it's a lot of uphill. I would not call it walkable. You should book the Parks Canada shuttle. The shuttle is the only way to get to Moraine Lake, and since you also want to see Moraine Lake, then it makes sense to use the shuttle to complete a loop of both lakes.

There is a Village Connector shuttle you can take to the Park and Ride to get the shuttle to the first Lake, take the Lake Connector to the next lake, and then back to the Park and Ride, to get the Village Connector shuttle back to your hotel.

You could also use the Village Connector to go up the LL gondola, since the gondola is at the ski resort, which is also where the shuttles to the lakes all stage from.

Absolutely. You could easily visit both lakes on the same day, and even fit in a big hike at one of the two lakes while you're there.

Note that it's the Post Hotel (not Post House).

Yes, you can walk to Lake Louise from the village:

https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/randonnee-hiking/lakelouise#tramline

... but it's 195m (close to 650 ft) of elevation gain. If you plan to hike, I'd say to save your time and energy to do the Plain of Six Glaciers hike, which has spectacular views, rather than hiking up to the lake through the forest.

Bears - the entire area is "bear country" and being prime habitat, the Lake Louise area is a grizzly bear hot spot. That said, bears tend to avoid the busy areas like the lakes, village and trails... but no guarantees you won't see one. If there are any around, they will be seen and reported, and Parks Canada will close any areas if they feel there is a danger.

There was this highly publicized incident last September: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/grizzly-bears-follow-hikers-banff-1.6967386 ... but the coverage was really sensationalized and overblown. The bears were "following" the hikers as in they were travelling on the trail like the hikers were; it's not like they were stalking them or threatening in any way. What the hiking guide should have done (where possible) was to collect her group and get off the trail and let the bears go by.

There is a free Parks Canada shuttle from the village to the park and ride at the ski/gondola resort.

This map shows the locations of the three places but is set as a driving route, not walking because there is no walking route to the gondola. https://maps.app.goo.gl/YfMpoffcwhAuQ1Z76

Good thing you are looking for nature and scenery and not shops ... because you won't find much of that at Lake Louise. This is a streetview image of "Samson Mall", which has a small grocery store, a liquor store, a bakery, a couple of restaurants and a couple of souvenir and outdoor gear shops. https://maps.app.goo.gl/4XUVaHDG7WYFd8Lw7
