Thinking of going to Cancun for our Honeymoon and staying at either one of the RIU Palaces? or RIU CANCUN??? where should we stay. are only in our 20's so we still like to have some drinks and have some fun.

But what else besides a negative covid test do we need to come into the USA? do we need to do anything coming into MEXICO?

is it SAFE?

Can't help with the resort selection, but entering Mexico, a covid test is not required, proof of vaccination is not required and there's no mandatory quarantine after arrival.

You will need a negative covid test result to board your flight back to the US. Details here...

Here's what's required for departure from Mexico...

1) In addition to a valid passport, visitors must hand in the part of the FMM immigration card/form that was returned to them upon entry to Mexico. If you've lost you half of the FMM, you'll have to pay for a new one.

2) If returning to the USA, passengers need to get a Covid-19 test no more than 3 days before the departure date and show a negative result to the airline before boarding the flight, or be prepared to show documentation of recovery (proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

Details here...

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-air-travel.html

3) A health questionnaire must also be shown (to be completed within 12 hours of your departure time). Here's the new link for the on-line form...

https://www.vuelaseguro.com/login

Or use the pdf...

https://img.pueblobonito.com.mx/mktinterno/callcenter/health_questionnaire/cuestionario-identif-friesvia.pdf

Or get the link from your airline.

Paper forms should be available at the airport.

4) Here's the link to an Attestation form required when checking-in for flights to the US (this form should be provided by the airline)..

https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/pdf/Fillable-Attestation-English-p.pdf

5) As of 1 April 2021, a new tourist tax of 224 pesos must be paid when visiting the state of Quintana Roo. It can be paid before or during your trip by using the following website...

https://www.visitax.gob.mx//sitio/

BUT... Check-in agents are not asking for proof of payment, and most visitors are refusing to pay at Cancun airport, so you can decide whether or not you want to pay it. Here's a media report about how the Visitax payment is collected (or not collected) at Cancun airport...
