First Timers. Mid 30s. Kids are staying home!

Headed to either Cancun or PC with another couple. Ready for a beautiful beach, lively resort to have some fun, and hopefully at least decent food and grounds/room. We don’t require 5 stars but would appreciate something nice. Night time entertainment/parties won’t deter us as we like to have a good time as well. Any suggestions? I liked Breathless and CHIC but they were a little out of our price range. Anything similar that is just a tier down price-wise?

RIU Republica is also fun and lively. Mid range but good value for the price. 9 restaurants, food was pretty decent. Also nice beach area, 8 pools and a fun waterpark.

Similar scenario to you, we are in mid 30s and kiddos will be with the grandparents. We booked Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar in Punta Cana and found it very reasonably priced. Seems to have plenty of amenities and gets great reviews overall. We’ve been to Cancun twice so figured we’d try something different this time around!

Ambar is a nice resort but more laid back, If looking for lively resort. However, you can access other sections including the main plaza for shows, disco, sports bar etc...

Thank you all for the replies. It looks like Republica is booked for our dates.

Any thoughts on Majestic Colonial? I understand there is an adults section.

Nice family resort. Not super lively but there is a main plaza there and yes, there is an adults club area.

ambar gets my vote. It can be very lively at the pool and the sports bar can be very busy at night. Great coffee shop and lots of entertainment if you don't mind wandering over to the other sections. Food among the best we have had at any resort. Pool waitresses are amazing. We have been so many times I have lost count lol

Unfortunately it looks like Ambar is sold out for our dates (early May)
