Mosquitoes

Hi, we will be staying at the HPB site in late September, we haven’t been to La Gomera for over 10 years and I’m wondering about the mosquito problem. As there isn’t air conditioning at the site how safe will it be to have windows open in the evening? Will obviously have insect repellents etc but will that be sufficient to protect us? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

If you mean HPB Santa Anna then I would say very unlikely you will see any mosquitoes. Mosquitoes need stagnant water and like swampy areas. HPB Santa Anna in a very barren area and is up high on a cliff. Not good area for mozzies.

Been in that area twice and never seen a mozzie. Much more likely to be bothered by the Cory’s Shearwater birds than come home to roost in the cliff when the sun goes down ( amazing sound and brilliant sight if there is a moon out).

Hi

We are at HPB right now! I was just thinking about the lack of mosquitoes which led me to your post.

Been here for 6 days and I think I've seen one, in the evening! You won't have any worries, enj your holiday, it's a lovely place.
