Octopus has better coral and snorkelling close to the beach, BLBR has good snorkelling too, but be prepared to swim further out from the beach along the edge of the reef for the best of it. BLBR used to be excellent just metres off the beach, unfortunately the reef has been affected close in by people walking on it, and I offer a plea to anyone going there to enter the water a very short distance down the beach by the boats at lower times of the tide. Better beach at BLBR, very gentle slope into the water, and very calm water almost all the time, due to the sheltering effect of off-shore islands. The beach at Octopus is steeper and sometimes subject to waves which make snorkelling for me difficult.

Whichever one you decide on you will not be disappointed.

Octopus by far but the best of all is Botaira Beach Resort the reef is extensive with huge varieties of coral fish turtles and giant clams it is a marine sanctuary and George the activities coordinator will take you on a great snorkeling expedition on the reef, he see so much that we don't. You can access the reef at all tides, there is a concrete path to use at low tide.
