Any hilly areas?
Save

Hi all

Have never been to Port de Pollensa, but it does look very nice. Could someone please tell me if there are any very hilly areas, or steep slopes in either the port area or the old town? Also, I'm not good at walking long distances. Is the port very far from the old town? TIA

Most of the port area is very flat, although there are slight rises up towards the by pass at the Formentor end. The old town is more hilly though the centre is reasonably flat. It is five miles or so from the port, though the exact distance depends on the starting and finishing point because both towns are quite spread out. There's a good bus service between the two. You would have no problems walking in the port.

Most of PdP is totally flat. Areas outside the bypass do have slopes and in Gommar area further out they become steep (but you won't be going there IMO).

I always recommend staying "inside" the area within the bypass anyway. And that's all flat. The link below may help.

The old town does have slopes behind the church square, but you should be ok as far as the lovely church square. (And don't get worried if you learn about the 412 steps up the hill in Pollenca old town; you won't be doing those but you could stand at the bottom and look upwards).

PdP is great for restaurants - all types, all price ranges. Shops as well, but restos is its big pluspoint.

If you tell us what accommodation is on your shortlist, we can advise better about proximity to restos etc.

Restos? D'you mean restaurants? I don't have a short list yet as wanted to investigate the area first. It does sound nice. I think I'd rather stay near the sea than in the old town. Will start looking tomorrow. Was thinking end of May/beginning of June.

Thanks for your help.

<<Restos? D'you mean restaurants?>> = yes, my abbreviation.

End May/early June = a very pleasant time for a visit.

<<Will start looking tomorrow>> if you are seeking a hotel, have the following on your shortlist - Daina, Miramar, Mar Senses, Sis Pins, Hoposa Bahia. All a decent hotels and different from each other; and in an ideal location area for you. About 15 mins walk away from there, out along the prom rather than near the resort centre with its main concentration of restos, maybe consider Uyal, Pollentia and Pollensa Park

That's very helpful - thank you. I need to be near to the centre of things really. Are there any boat trips you can go on?

The port is flat. I can get to bars and restaurants either in my wheelchair or mobility scooter. The old town is a bit more of a challenge and certainly a taxi ride away. Last year I hired a mobility scooter in the port online. It was reasonably priced at £10 a day. Also delivered personally bang on time to my hotel.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Jeremy. I don't need a mobility scooter, but that is certainly helpful for others who may do.
