Restaurants that do take away.

We are staying in a villa next month, and sometimes fancy eating in, without the need to cook. Do any of the restaurants in the area offer meals to take away- I'm quite happy to pick up, so a delivery service is not required. Trying to steer clear of the ubiquitous pizza, but quite happy for a good Italian pasta, or Spanish paella.

Many thanks.

Café Store Formentor Deli & Bistro is a mini supermarket with a bar/café attached. On the Formentor road behind the Pinewalk. Local workers sit up at the counter to have their lunch but it's mostly tourists from the Bellresguard complex (although it could close if the apartment rules continue). They do take out of many items from the menu. The chinese restaurants probably do take out. I've never seen paella offered to go but could be worth asking if it's "para llevar".

There's Al Fresco Deli on the route from Flora Aparthotel to the sea front in Puerto Pollensa. It's principally a takeaway though it does have a couple of tables outside. It's highly rated - currently no. 3 on TA of all the restaurants in the port. We've had family-sized takeaways from there in the past and they were very good. I think it may have changed hands since we last used it, but even if it has it maintains its high reputation. It provides quite a selection of food. Alternatively, if you are closer to Pollensa Old Town, I know that Celler El Moli does takeaway paella as we've seen people coming in to collect them.

Ca'n Ferra in the centre of P.P. do some great traditional Mallorcan/Spanish dishes (Including what I think is the best paella locally). You would need to pre-order but some of these dishes can be taken-away. You would probably have to pay a deposit on the paella pan!

I would also suggest that if you are in town and like a restaurant, ask them if they would do this.

RE Al Fresco - we have used them for almost as long as they have been opened but we had a takeaway meal from there two weeks ago and were disappointed both at the quality and the price.

Hiper Centro supermarket has a hot counter that has a good selection we have purchased various side dishes, chicken, Pork and the ribs (never tried the fish). Have also ordered the paella to take away from C'an Ferra. Never seen Italian food though.

Loads of the restaurants do take away you just have to ask. We always put kids to bed and then one of us gets food we have a nice meal no cooking in our villa. I think we’ve only been refused take away in one restaurant in PP.

Restaurant IRU does lovely take away paella although it takes a while to cook so ring them to order (most staff speak good English)

Great suggestions above and l always say that if you don't ask you won't get as Emy82 above confirmed . Also believe that many restaurants will be glad of any custom , take away or not , considering the sad demise of apartments to book . Reckon a lot of hotels will now be offering good half board deals but hopefully the all inclusive will not take over PP!

Would be fascinated if you went to Can Ferra. Our paella was miserable with very little meat but plenty of animal bones. Yuck

#2 << Al Fresco Deli ... principally a takeaway though it does have a couple of tables outside. It's highly rated - currently no. 3 on TA of all the restaurants in the port>>

No 3 of the restos in PP and no 56 of the 5,682 restaurants in the whole of Mallorca. That shows how crazy are some of the TA rankings, I no longer trust them.

It's a good take-away; not what I would categorise as a restaurant (despite a few tables).

Re #9 = The little terrace (with tables and chairs) at the front was #unauthorised# and has now been removed - so it us even less of a restaurant
