Chirk, Trevor or LLangollen?

Hi, New to this forum and would be very grateful for a little advice. I have found 3 holiday cottages which suit our requirements with our 2 dogs for a break in March. One is a bungallow in Chirk, one is a cottage attached to a pub in Trevor and the other a house in Llangollen. Having not been to this area before I am at a loss which one would suit us best, hoping someone can help.

Criteria is

Stunning scenery and flat walks, access to various flat walking routes (my partner has breathing problems so hills can be a problem)

I would prefer not to have to drive all week so one or two places to eat or access to takeaway deliveries would be handy..

A nice scenic area basically with easy canal walks.

Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks

The Llangollen canal probably goes through Trevor and Llangollen, if memory serves me, so could provide relatively flat walking. However, it is hilly around there and the canal is a feat of engineering!

The canal also goes through Chirk, so any of the cottages will provide access to flat walks, as long as you have a head for heights on the aqueducts.

Llangollen will have many more options for eating and shopping but assuming you have a car then i would just go for the accommodation which looks best.

Llangollen would be my first choice. The Dee valley looks beautiful from Llangollen, so the scenery starts from the house!

However parking can be difficult or expensive in Llangollen, so make sure you have parking space available at the property.

As others have said, provided he can manage the climb (about 50ft in height up a steady incline) to the canal, once there the towpath is flat, as is most of Llangollen.

Llangollen then Chirk then Trevor. Why? Llangollen is bigger and has a better choice of establishments. Great walks along the canal tow path. Chirk - a good central location for getting out and about. Not as pretty as Llangollen as overshadowed by a huge industrial plant, but a good castle there. Trevor - blink and you miss it - you will have to drive more.

Slightly off topic but related, Chirk Castle was my favorite of all the wonderful castles we saw in Wales.
