Why has TripAdvisor removed all our website links?

Question

TripAdvisor has recently removed all the website links and contact info from all of my listings of which we have 7 different attractions. Does anyone have any ideas about why they might have suddenly done this? They haven't emailed in regards to the removal.  Thanks!

Hi I don't know why they would do that. Have you asked the other owners on the private Owners Forum? Details about accessing that forum are in a sticky at the top of this page and in the Top Questions on the right.

I think it has been mentioned in another post ( which I doubt I can find) that TA now charges a fee for listing that contact information now - only the listing itself is now free. do understand they posted information about this policy change in the Owner's Forum, to which you have been referred by others. I asked to have my post above this one removed, because I first misunderstood your question. and that answer was wrong.

It seems to me that TA are giving a huge leg-up for Viator with the restructuring of the "Things to do" so all the first offerings are those through Viator, and it requires scrolling through all those, many in the case of popular regions, to get to the listings by popularity and see also that, as mentioned, while the location address associated with the activity is shown, the phone number and email address are not shown. This seems to have happened about three weeks ago. For me it means that I will need to search for provider rather than be able to click on a link.

Luke ~ I have read in this forum that the removal of the business details for tours is a trial by TA. The business details seem to still be located in the link to the left of the map called "Improve this listing." So the business details have not really been removed ... sort of. I am of the opinion that by removing the business details for tour businesses, people looking for a tour are forced through Viator, the tour branch of Trip Advisor and the third party vendor. I'm not sure about charging a fee to enhance Attractions with business details. None of the other attractions are affected by this removal of their business details. Wow, if anyone at TA paying attention to feedback -- please bring the websites back to the pages. I just had a potential client call and tell me how hard it was to find my information. He also told me that I should have my website and phone number on the page because he almost didn't contact me because of it. I went and checked our settings and my info is in my settings but not appearing on my site. It made my business seem unprofessional without even notifying me that this would be a change. We have considered using Viator but there are many hoops to jump through and stipulations to meet. Don't arbitrarily change out business listings just to pressure more people into Viator. The pages that don't use Viator already have Viator ads surrounding us in results so you are definitely getting proper exposure, please take this feedback from both customers and business page owners.
