Travel around Gran Canaria from Taurito to Puerto Rico

Question

I'm staying in a hotel in Taurito, Gran Canaria and I was meant to go with my boyfriend for his 50th but we broke up 2 weeks ago. I'm going on my own instead. I am nervous though - I have travelled solo before but met up with a group when I arrived at my destination and this time I'm totally alone. I intend to get out and about and wonder if anyone is familiar with the buses and whether there's day passes etc. I like markets, places of historical interest and water activities, if you can think of anything to do  :) I wanted to see the red gorge caves but it's expensive for one person!

You should ask in the local forum. You'll get better or at least more responses there.

I'm not sure how many people here have any experience with that island.

The Gran Canaria forum was posted, here's the sub-forum for Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria. One thing I recommend for all newer commenters is to open the forums in a web browser (not the app) because there are so many Top Questions posts of various topics that can be very helpful to a newbie.

Re transport..not in any order...

> if you have access to google maps and know how to use it, you can look at where you are going and look for bus/lightrail/subway icons and click ion one. See if there is some link to the local agency.

> you can google for it. Such as " public transortation in xyz" you may get some ideas or whete else you look/search.

>travel books have a wealth of info in them. They were out before the internet and TA.

> you can download a transit app like moovit or sililar and see if they have info.

Repost in the GC forum (as mentioned in post 2) as soon as possible.

you will get plenty of replies from people familiar with the attractions, history and public transport (including me!) and many GC forum regulars are solo travellers.

PS - when you repost,please specify exactly where you mean by "the red gorge caves" - do you have a name for this place/location? It doesn't mean anything to me and I have been to GC 7 times.
