We visited the Cafeteria El Colibri one afternoon and I was in heaven with exceptionally good latte ( best coffee I had in Costa Rica) and hummingbirds were astonishing.
Kids also enjoyed delicious hot chocolates and crescents. We liked it so much that we returned the next morning for another latte with pastries and to watch those amazing birds all around us. Both days staff was friendly, attentive and provided very good service, one of them talked to my kids about birds and showed them some insects. This place is a real gem. I highly recommend.

Colibri is a nice place where they have great juices and you can sit relaxed. There are a lot of hummingbirds flying around, which is very nice and cool to see, but is it totally ok to feed wild animals? It is a bit innocent, but maybe not the best way. There can be coatis around as well. This was absolutely cool, but kept me thinking.

This place is hummingbird heaven.
Located just at the gates of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, you should walk round the amazing cloud forest and then stop for coffee and cake here. We had Chemex coffee, passion fruit cake and chocolate cake. All delicious though a stop here is all about the hummingbirds tbh. It’s well worth hovering and bagging one of the outside tables - you’ll be be swarmed by hummingbirds and have to fend off the coati looking for your cake but it’s absolutely delightful.
Coffee and cake amongst the hummingbirds here is something I’ll remember forever. A simple but joyful experience.

We visited this cafe on a tour of Cloud Forest. It was busy but loved seeing humming birds hover around the feeders. We then went back later after tour groups had left and it was much quieter. The cafe does nice coffee, smoothies and banana bread

A cool, cute coffee shop find close to the entrance to Monteverde Park. The Mushroom Chicken Quiche, Ham & Cheese Croissant, Hot Chocolate, and Chocolate Cake were very good!! The bonus was watching the hummingbirds at the feeders while eating our goodies. The only downer was the coati that was circling close by resulting in tourists gathered around me taking photos. I moved inside so problem solved.

Nice place to stop for an afternoon break. We ordered some iced coffees and pastries. The food was delicious and the coffees perfect.
We really enjoyed seeing the hummingbirds! The kids were enthralled. We see them at home often but never so many at once.

Coffee and dozens of colibrí species a few steps away.
Although the food options are limited, drinks are very good, especially the coffee and the chocolate.
Around the corner from the cafe there is a nice little gift shop and several buzzing colibríes drinking from their feeders for us to see, photograph and enjoy.

The coffee here was really good and so were the snacks/pastries we had after our cloud forest tour in Monteverde. The highlight of course are the many many hummingbirds you will see if you visit this cafe. It's super cozy for you to miss.

Best place to watch humming birds in our whole trip. We went around 2pm and it was not too crowded. Able to peacefully watch the birds . Easy to get to by taxi .

There weren’t many options food-wise here, so we had a juice. We were mainly in it for the hummingbirds.
It was absolutely fantastic, a chance to see many different types of hummingbird close up.

I had the corn pudding and my companion had a piece of lemon pie. We both had great coffee. We were with a group and everyone enjoyed what they had except a few were not excited by the cheese empanadas (which they indicated were fried and not very tasty).

Located just a 1-minute walk outside the preserve, Cafeteria Colibri attracts both hummingbirds and tourists with the many feeder that are hung around the cafeteria’s exterior. It also provides a nice spot for a drink and a snack before leaving the preserve.
TIP: Don’t try to photograph the hummingbirds at the feeders, they move too quickly. Look instead for the hummingbirds who are sitting in the trees surrounding the feeders and waiting for their turn. They too do not sit long, but you’ll have a better chance of getting a good picture.

Two porches with multiple feeders offer a great place to relax and gawk at gorgeous hummingbirds feeding and whizzing by. You sit so close to them that you can hear their wings buzz. And coatimundi (raccoon like creatures) come to visit too. Oh, and there’s coffee, hot chocolate and smoothies. Buy to patronize so that you can enjoy these beautiful animals up close. My pineapple smoothie was good and the hot drinks come with a cookie.
