Great fish and chips

Visited after doing the WHanganui River Journey during the busy holiday period and enjoyed our best meal that week. Good menu and choice of drinks. Service was adequate but a bit abrupt. The window areas could do with a good clean.

A welcome sight after a long day

Schnapps Bar staff went out of their way to feed our party of hunger diners, arriving back late after a long day on the mountain just as the kitchen was closing. They were quick and courteous, the prices were reasonable and the food – unsurprisingly...– tasted great!More

A bit rough with pub-standard food

This was one of the few options to eat out that were open. The meals consisted of large serves of comfort food. I had to give the waitress my driver's license as security before she would take my meal order. I guess that serving meals...is a secondary business, with their main function being a bar. The décor was dated and pretty worn out. There were fly buzzing around our table. The staff were pleasant and friendly with an element of local spirit that comes from eating in a tiny town during a time when there are not too many customers. The food was functional and par for the course. Nothing special, but also nothing to fault.More

Best in National Park

A GREAT feed for an awesome price! Friendly staff, great atmosphere definitely helped me carb-load for the Tongariro Crossing without breaking the bank! Highly Reccommend

Family friendly. Great options for kids.

Generous hearty meals. Extremely clean and tidy inside and out. Lovely staff. Outside are would be fantastic in summer. Had a lovely evening here thanks to the team. Wishing you all the best in the future with current hard times.

Craby old man behind the bar

The old fella behind the bar was very rude. Will avoid from now on The wait staff were great. And apologetic to the olds mans behaviour

late night

I came across this bar quite late into the night so I was relieved to be welcomed into the warm bar with more than one vegan option on the menu. I'm still kicking myself for not taking the dessert home.

Fantastic food

Just had another excellent meal at the Schnapps Bar. Their food never disappoints and the service is always friendly. Definitely try their ribs.

Delicious!

After a long day hike on the Tongariro Crossing, our guide recommended us the 'Razorback Ribs.' Wow - it was delicious! Love the sauce, chips and ribs!

Those ice creams!

The ice cream sundae was exactly what we all needed after enjoying the sun on the mini golf course. If we had realised they were so large, we probably would have shared one between three!

Yes. There were children eating in the restaurant when we were there. It has a unique decor that I think children would like. FYI, the sticky date pudding is fantastic!
