Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well I had been here before and it was bustling so I was a bit taken aback to find it quite quiet when we visited. The staff were great form the outset and cautioned there was a reduced menu owning to staffing. We weren’t phased...so we went for two pizzas. Drinks arrived promptly and we had a good seat by the tv, a rugby game was on I think. We had ordered a Hawaiian and a vege pizza and these arrived to the table by a very friendly guy, Joshua maybe, he chatted about our trio down and then Carrie son back the bar. The vege was the greatest one I’ve had for ages, hand made and cooked well. The Hawaiian was great too but easily beaten by the former. We both love our meat but have to hand it to them - making vege food interesting. We came back for a drink and more pizza the next day and had a great chat with the same guy behind the bar. He was training someone new and was very good at supporting him through it (might seem silly to mention but you see such horrible interactions in hospo sometimes so it gave me a good feeling for the kaupapa of the place) We will come back on our next training tripMore

Good food and great service! Staff are energetic and friendly and all seem like they are having fun which puts a good vibe into the space. Ordered big brekkie and some scones it was all delish and came quickly. We will be back!

I wanted to like Monkey Farm more but I don't think we will be back. The service was lacking. I understand they were under pressure with staffing issues over the summer but there really were not that many people dining. We ordered from the cabinet...food and it still took over an hour to arrive. The meal was fairly average. Dry chicken, flat coke etc. There seemed to be a lack of organisation as to who was doing what (we asked for water and it never arrived!) and a general feeling of staff feeling flustered which reflected back on customers. Reduce the number of tables, organise your staff, improve the food, and we'll be back.More

Booked meal with family. Ordered drinks at bar and sat down. No one came to table for an hour. Not even to offer a menu. Staff seemed inexperienced and the whole place lacked any leadership or organisation. We got up to pay the drinks bill...and say we would not be staying for dinner or returning due to the poor service. They did not seem to fussed about this. Will not be coming back.More

We had coffee out in the garden and a lovely cake. Young kids would love the playground. It should be noted that Wanaka is absolutely packed at the moment so a wait everywhere should be expected. Thanks for a lovely time!

Our dining Experience left a lot to be desired, yes it was busy but the young girl that was our waitress was extremely rude, at one stage she apologised for ‘being off’ today! She didn’t come back and take our order for ages, and didn’t...ask us if we wanted more drinks, we ordered an entree and mains and waited an hour for our food, when the food finally arrived I asked the girl about the entree we ordered only for her to respond with oh sorry it’s all coming together. Food was good. Won’t be back in a hurryMore

What a cool spot. Stopped in for a drink, got to join quiz night half way through. Amazing and friendly people. Place is kinda hidden but we found it on our way to Airbnb as there was a sign on the Main Street. No charge...for quiz night and a free bowl of chips during the break. How generous is that. Especially in these difficult times. Much love to these guys. You rock.More

We were a group of 4 adults, one toddler. The Monkey Farm was close to our accommodation; we were told by locals that the food could be good but service and consistency of food was variable. We were served by 2 young girls and both...were obviously not trained. No surprise our order was confused and while an adult staff member said she would get the rest of our order sorted we waited over an hour and no luck. A bit of common sense would have put the adults in the waiter positions and the kids on the table wiping and food delivery. It’s hard to be sympathetic during COVID levels when businesses seem less than customer focussed. Due to lack of service they missed out on income from our full meal order and another 2 rounds of drinks. I don’t enjoy complaining; we go out to have an enjoyable experience not a disappointing one.More

Took our family for a morning snack and play at the playground. We ordered 3 friands, a ham and spinach tart, and and a ham and cheese croissant. The counter staff didn’t know what the friands were, or how to ring them up. They gave...us a total which was just the friands, so had to go back and add the other two items. The tart and croissant were good (supplied from Pembroke patisserie) but the friands tasted of chemicals (think gumboot smell but as a taste) and way overpriced at $6.40 each. In short, they need a huge improvement in staff knowledge and customer service, and food that is edible for the premium price they are asking.More

Having asked politely twice for the music to be turned down (once to the owner, once to a server) it was a shock to be completely ignored. This place is definitely a no go when its a super busy weekend and your already booked in. We had 1 waiter take our drink order, another waiter deliver the drinks, another waiter said he would be here in a moment, 15 minutes later, ANOTHER...waiter ripped a page out of the colouring in book my child was using to take my order. We were told what to order as NO chicken, NO fish, 2x steak left and small amount of pork left. Kids were far from impressed also. 2 hours later i checked on our order, to be told 15 minutes. 20 minutes later they bought 1 bowl of 6 fries for a 6 year old over, never mind the 3x 12 year olds and the adults. 2.5 hours later we left. The people next to us had been there 3 hours. This really left sour grapes as we have been here before and talked the place up yo our friends with us. Our friends and us will never be back and will never recommend this Monkey place again. Get ya act together. We had a table booked for a couple days and the town had so many events on!!!!More
