Xmas brunch

After visiting some factory outlets in Collingwood my wife and I decided to have brunch at Proud Mary which was nearby. In the past every time we went past there was a large crowd of people waiting to get in and there were no parking spots. Today, between Xmas and New Year it was only a 15 min wait to get a outside table. If you want coffee made CORRECTLY then you must visit Proud Mary. I had 2 large slices of sourdough that were crunchy and very tasty and came with butter and jam which my wife had egg on 2 slices of toast. We both enjoyed ourselves. They had some reserved seating so they must accept bookings. Free parking on west side of the road, meter parking on east side of the road.

Breakfast was a solid “good” not great

Would like to make it 3 1/2 dots. We came for breakfast on a wet Tuesday morning, fresh off the Spirit. Food was not bad but my mushroom dish was spoiled by an excess of cheesy, buttery muck drowning it. Let me taste the mushrooms! BF’s eggs w mushrooms and avo as add ons, were a better choice. I intend to return for coffee, as I know that is their thing and we prefer our coffee mid morning, not first up. The oj’s were ok and service was good.

Busy little cafe

Busy little café on the corner of Oxford St. We had the Beef short ribs and Avo on Toast for an early lunch. Both OK if a little exie. Good coffee and friendly staff.

We googled a good cafe and this one came up. We weren’t disappointed, fast friendly service. Delicious coffee! Food was awesome but shame $6 for one piece of bacon.. good find!

Worst cup of coffee I’ve ever had

Got there 7am as they opened. Ordered a long black in my own take away cup. The cup was half full, cold and honestly the worst coffee I’ve ever had. How you mess up a long black absolutely astounds me.

Great Coffee

After several recommendations to try this Cafe , we finally got here. Great atmosphere. Was extremely busy. Coffee was great ( Nicaragua, La Laguna). Great wait staff

Should be renamed Precious Mary

We used to live in the area and love the coffee here and let me state first up that nothing has changed there, the coffee is outstanding. The food is also very good and the atmosphere is always bright and energetic. The only thing that stops a 5 star review are some of the staff here are so precious and pretentious that they think they are the stars of the show. The bearded waiter who served us made us wait (with tables free) while he went outside and checked on his car, then went out again and taped a sunshade on the windscreen. We had our infant some with us, so wanted to get things moving. We were told that the high chair would not fit next to the table we were assigned, so we politely asked the people beside if they would swap. They had overheard the conversation and were happy to oblige. The waiter made a big song and dance about not wanting to disturb the other customers (which is fair, but they were not upset at all and said they were surprised at the waiter's reaction) and then moved us to a table across the other side of the cafe while rolling his eyes and making it known that he wasn't happy to have to accomodate a child. This is the worst part of one of the best food cities in the world.... The staff from then on were friendly and efficient and made us feel at home. It only takes one bad egg to taint a otherwise delightful morning.

Tried out some Melbourne’s Coffee!

We went for our brekkie where the review was decently good. The place was very close to our accommodation. Cafe itself is Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff but not good at serving smoothly. Also coffee was decent but not excellent. I have ordered strong Latte and price was $5.5 which I think it’s too expensive. I can see many other flavors of coffee so worth of try but not recommend for people who really want to enjoy the “Italian Coffee” Also very crowded and not able to relax much. Therefore, 3 stars overall.

Sit down coffee review

Buzzing place with nice vibe. Prompt glass of water when sat down. Staff were friendly and efficient. Coffee had good flavor but was only luke warm.

That Potato Hash is a must!!

Came here from a reccomendation from my cousin and it was amazing! This place is the founder of Aunty Peg's. I had the potato hash and it was fantastic! The thick cut bacon was soft and melts in your mouth. The kale salad and the cream complemented the dish well and it left me wanting more! downside was that I had a piece of plastic in my meal but that honestly didn't ruin it for me. Would definitely come back to try the other foods when in Melbourne!

cool and relaxing brunch spot

the outlet came with excellent coffee, food was great and nicely prepared. We enjoyed the hash brown in particular. ambiance was relaxing, the spot was busy yet there was still some distance and space between you and other guests. A very comfortable place for breakfast, brunch, and coffee. Will surely visit again.
