Hidden Gem - Must try this

My family and I were travelling through the Mani from Diros Caves to Stoupa and decided to pull off the road to find a nice place to eat lunch. We stumbled upon this hidden gem of a restaurant and have had wonderful lunch served to perfection by the very friendly staff. The calamari and anchovies were very fresh and the tzatziki and greens were superb. The selection of fresh fish was also very impressive! To top this off the restaurant is set right over the water with spectacular views and chilled music in the background. It’s whitewashed wood structure and blue tableclothed tables plus super service and food make this a must stop and see for anyone looking for great place to have lunch. My family rated it the best on the trip so far! FYI - they were following all the Covid protocols etc and the place was very clean and well run! The complimentary iced coffee was the icing on the cake!

Great and fresh fish

Our first time. Great location exactly over the rocks and waves. Great service, friendly people who ask and ask again if you like food and if you and company enjoy / enjoyed their meal. Fish was fresh and very tasty. Portions were larger than average. A must. Clearly.

Amazing traditional food and hospitality

Beautiful traditional taverna right on the sea with amazing views and turquoise water. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the food is amazing, fresh fish, meat, vegetables. Prices are good and they help accommodate all your needs. I've been doing work here the past few days and they did everything they could to accommodate me using my laptop, giving me plugs and free WiFi. Highly recommend eating here if you are in the area!

We visited Faros on our first night in Mani as we were staying nearby. The location was good and the food ok; but overall not a pleasant experience. At the front of the restaurant they keep an old wooden boat with lobsters and fish inside that smells extremely bad. Beware; it is the smell of old! On the counter the fish itself looked that it was caught days ago. So we decided to play it safe and go with basics; Greek salad, marinated anchovies; fried calamari (frozen) and a few other sides; as we were a bit worried about the hygiene and quality. Ultimately it was ok, not inspired tastes by no means but all edible. The service was ok, but the waiters made comments each time we had a request which they probably thought were witty but I thought were completely unnecessary or even snarky. If that doesn’t bother you, then it should have no bearing. I would ultimately not go back again as there are many other and better places in the area.

Worst fish ever

We ordered the recommended platter of mixed fish and it turned out to be the worst fish we ever got anywhere. A good variety of fish was totally ruined in the kitchen by having been thrown into a deep fryer! With old oil, on top of that. Very sad result.

Peculiar Service; Indifferent Food

The restaurant was virtually empty, so we were served promptly by default. We ordered several sides (favorite unavailable), a salad and fish soup. All were brought to the table at once. We ate the fish soup first so it wouldn’t get cold while we finished our starters. The menu claimed 400 grams fish in the soup; it was about 1/3 that amount. Overall, peculiar service, indifferent tourist food.

The best restaurant near Areopolis

Forget about all other restaurants and taverns in Limeni and Oitilon. This is the only one you should visit. It offers a great variety of delicious food, that tastes like it's home made. Freshly made and not just reheated or microwaved. Excellent view. Special mention to the extra friendly owners and stuff, they went out of their way to accommodate us and our ageing dog. Can't wait to visit this place again!

Delicious food

Revisited this delightful taverna for an ad hoc lunch. Fried aubergines, little peppers stuffed with spicy cheese, tzatziki, bread and freshly pressed local olive oil with a half litre of local white wine. αυτό ήταν πεντανόστιμο!

Good without something awesome to justify the 4+ in its reviews. The food of normal without peculiarity in its taste. The unfried bread, the unfried fish soup with bones, the marinade maroon different from what I have tasted. There was nothing wrong, he just didn't have the special thing. Lazy hazy Sunday afternoon

Lovely welcome , fresh delicious food and divine setting. Horta, Melinzanosalata, saganaki, psomi and psarisoupa for 3 and drinks for 89 euro!. The fish soup was light yet rich and plentiful with potatoes, celery and carrots - a classic traditional Greek fish soup, with two whole fish (I think grouper) to add as required.... honestly what more could you wish for . Service was friendly , attentive, welcoming and relaxed. Thank you , we will be back

Great meal, lovely food plus turtles.

Great meal With a view over harbour and Turtles. We had a lovely meal with anchovies, dolmas, olives, cheese pies. Mains we had 2 sardines, a salad, one pork steak and a shrimp saganaki. We could see turtles! Very friendly.

Wonderful seafood and ambiance

Had an amazing late Sunday lunch in this perfect seaside taverna. Amazing food and service. The setting is magical and the family owned restaurant is everything you dream a perfect Greek waterfront restaurant should be. The fish and lobster were delectable but the salads and vegetables- all local and fresh were as lovely. A must!

Water refill for the boat and excellent dinner!

We could refill our catamaran with fresh water thought a long tube available at the Tavern. There is also a shower available. We spent 5 weeks in Greece visiting every day a new place. Here we had the best dinner! Everyone was very helpful, friendly and kind. Definitely worth coming! Thank you!

Nice fresh seafood

Had a nice lunch by the sea with a very nice view. We had lunch there and there was a variety of fresh fish and seafood to choose from. Also quite easy to park in the area. Service time was decent. The food taste was very good. I can say we had a nice lunch and we would visit again.

Best restaurant in our Peloponnese travels

Great selection of fresh seafood. After our first meal here, we couldn’t go past O Faros and ended up dining there each of our three nights in the area. The view is very pleasant and the generosity of Pantelis and staff is reflected in the food and service. Loved it!
