We had the fish chowder and toasted garlic bread. It is the best garlic bread we have ever eaten. The fish chowder was rich in seafood with a hint of a taste that wasn't the traditional vermouth but turned out on asking, to be orange juice. It is probably the dearest fish chowder I have ever eaten and the outside tables really do need a deep cleaning session but the atmosphere and the lady behind the counter were really lovely and more than compensated.

Called in and had eggs on toast with a hashbrown and bacon and eggs. Really tasty eggs cooked to perfection. Good coffee and friendly service. Seating both inside and out which is great on a summers morning.

Nice staff, but we were disappointed with food. Had one mouthful and left rest behind. Pulled pork burger tasted like it had been marinated in just juice, only 40% of it was actually pork. Usually flavoured meat will be advertised as such e.g "BBQ pulled pork" or in this case, "watery orange pulled pork". Chips tasted bizzare as if they had been cooked in same oil for months. We are kiwis not hard to please but that made us feel ill. Won't return.

The food was good and arrived quickly. However, unemptied ash trays were really off putting. I was also saddened to see you using Paua as ashtrays. I thought everywhere had stopped treating Maori taonga in a disrespectful way. This café is connected with the museum which makes it extremely disappointing.

Needed lunch and after being told in no uncertain terms that meat pies are meat pies - not meat and veg pies - opted for a lamb pie - delicious and I think I got the last one. My wife had a Bacon and Egg pie that she loved as well - also the last one. Had a cup of tea and there were at least four cups in the pot. Left very full. The ladies operating the place are great and it's worth going just to give them a bit of cheek - it comes back doubled so great atmosphere. Highly recommend

We met friends there for coffee. Easy to find and good selection of drinks with helpful staff. Next time we will eat.

I had a seafood chowder for lunch, it was abundant with meat, particularly fish, a little bit too lemony and lacked deep seafood flavour. Garlic bread was mostly air, but ok

Very friendly lady on the counter today was extremely welcoming! Delicious loaded vegetarian nachos - didn’t skimp on the cheese! Good strong coffee too. Interesting decor and casual feel :)

Muses Cafe has a great mix of seating options - indoors, covered outdoor seating, and uncovered outdoor seatin under a shady tree. The atmosphere is laid back - perfect for relaxing on a hot sunny day. The food took a while to come but was yummy when it arrived, especially the seafood chowder.

I never realised you could go to this cafe without going to the museum! It’s a lovely warm little cafe with enthusiastic and helpful staff. Drinks are always fast, the food prices are a very good price and the seafood chowder is awesome!!
