Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Their ‘Jo’s Burger’ is the best burger I have ever eaten. Would rate for dinner as there is beer and drinks included. Very good 👍🏼

Great food, service, and environment. We ordered the BBQ meat platter, which was great. Tasty, tender, succulent. Great beer selection. Outdoor area at the back had a nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed it.

We were desappointed by the food : we ask to the waistress to confirm that the burgers we chose was beef and finally we got something with pork belly. It is possible to make a mistake but the explanation was not honest (I made the...same mistake all the day). The chicken burger was not made with the best parts of the chicken either (not a breast). We won’t recommand this place nor would come again.More

This is our second visit to this restaurant. We were wanting to try the famous savoury donuts. We did not get to try this two years ago when it was sold out by the time we were there. On this second visit two years later,...we thought by arriving at 9am sharp ensured our opportunity to try it. Unfortunately we were left disappointed as they did not make them on the day we have visited. Apparently the daily menu is on facebook which we did not checked beforehand. We have ordered other food from the menu. The food that we ordered were pricey and not great . Hence I have given a lower rating based on the other food that we ate at the cafe.More

We popped in during the morning rush to buy donuts and coffees (outstanding on both counts) before heading over the Tākaka Hill, and took the opportunity to make a dinner booking for our return journey that evening - we were really pleased we did. The...place was busy, despite being a Sunday evening. The meals took quite a while to arrive, but the quality of the food more than made up for this. My son said the brisket and bacon burger was the best he'd ever had, and my wife's gluten free bun on her burger was fresh and delicious. My fish of the day (Fijian albacore tuna) was generous and succulent. I can see why this place is so popular - would definitely go out of my way to visit again.More

They do not serve dinner until 5pm, so if you want snacks they are available between lunch and dinner hours. Good food and decent service.

Stopped for its famous donuts, but not too much choice left at about 1:30pm. Might be a little bit too sweet for us, and felt a bit pricey compared to other eateries in the area.

Questions & Answers
Ask a question
Global50806601858
A few questions on the the vegetarian options please. Are they prepared on the same surfaces using the same utensils as for the animal flesh? (I expect that's yes.) If so, are the surfaces and utensils cleaned thoroughly between an animal flesh dish and a vegetarian dish? (I'm vegetarian not vegan so honey, milk and unfertilised eggs aren't a problem.) Does the ingredient list for the cheese used in the vegetarian dishes explicitly state the rennet is plant/fungus based? Are all sauces free from animal fat (except butter), fish, shellfish etc? For me, this is as important avoiding pig or beef is to most Muslims or Hindus and I would like to be reassured that my vegetarian order is extremely unlikely (I know there is always some small chance of an error but earnest effort goes a long way) to be contaminated by contact with dead animal. No worries if you can't reassure me, I know how busy kitchens get. I won't do a Peter or a Brian, I'll just tell my friends to drop one off their booking and wish them a great night at your (by all reasonable accounts) superb restaurant. Cheers guys.
