Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Cafe had lovely outdoor seating, great food, water and toiets available. We had morning tea cakes and muffins but would definitely try the lunch options if we had the chance as they looked great. My daughters savoury muffin was delicious and served warm with butter and chutney.

Lady on the front counter was very studious and her Covid protocols. Good menu selection, Food took a while to come out but when it did it was very well presented and delicious. Could say it was worth the wait. Large coffee came in ‘small’ takeaway cups. Cafe well populated so obviously well known in the area. Would go back

A group of us stopped off at the Rhubarb Cafe in Arapuni twice during our Riverside bike adventure.
The friendly and warm welcome came first, but then the food and coffee backed this up tenfold. WOW, The Rhubarb Cafe is a must stop for any hungry traveler close by or passing thru Arapuni.
An additional treat is the music in their amenities block. Check it out. !!!
Nga mihi team Cafe Rhubarb, see you next time for sure.

This cafe just doesnt flow. we had to squeeze behind tables to see the menu in a dark area and then wait in line. they had sold out of the lunch items we wanted to order, but we felt rushed by people behind us waiting and there was no menu handy to choose something else - didnt fancy going to the back of the line to wait again and so just ordered a coffee (which was average) and left.

Avoid this place : food took 35 mins from ordering and paying to the table. It arrived cold and the bacon was so salty as to be inedible. Being vegetarian I did not appreciate my toast cooked in bacon fat . The coffee was so strong it was undrinkable and the staff didn’t care at all .

This is a wonderful cafe, probably the South Waikato's best kept secret. The hearty kiwi classics that are made and served here are amazing: melting moments, ginger crunch, quiche, mince and cheese pies, savoury muffins, and many more; all made to the exceptional quality of yesteryear - and the coffee is perfect, too. Part of the experience of this cafe are the owners and staff. They're wonderful people who make a real effort with their customers. The cafe's classic furniture, historical photographs of the area, spacious and green outdoor area, and gallery are also fabulous. I hugely appreciate the effort the owners make to mitigate COVID - this has meant the cafe has largely been able to remain open during the pandemic and provided a little oasis during these challenging times. It's ten stars out of five from me and I will be back.

Stopped at Rhubarb Cafe for lunch, they had a great selection of food and the food was very well presented. Tables were available outside under cover or inside. Staff were very helpful. Would definitely call in there again.

The good reports that I had received from a chap in Cambridge and a neighbour encouraged me to take the drive to Arapuni for lunch at the Rhubarb Cafe. Obviously the well intentioned recommendations did not land in the right ears. If you want a pretty average try hard food selection then you’ll be happy here. White bread ... blokey fillings, nothing scintillating or tempting for this fussy lass. Even the cakes were lacking in quality and selection.
So sorry Rhubarb. Not a destination for me on a Sunday drive or ride.

The service is shocking. Water is warm and when mentioned was told I had to buy cold water. Shocking old bike racks to put your bike in ( this is on the Waikato Tiver trails) that don’t take modern bikes

Found Rhubarb Cafe in Arapuni when driving from Waitomo Caves over to Rotorua. Delicious food, friendly service, nice outdoor setting. Checked out the swing bridge nearby. A big bonus was my introduction to Scroggin Slice! Yum!

Triple jabbed Owner insists on customers wearing a mask so she can ‘feel safe’. She needs to familiarise herself with the Gvt website re mask wearing. It is illegal to restrict a person’s breathing. Meanwhile, the chef is not wearing a mask. Not that I care. But do you see the hypocrisy? Making up her own science by the looks of it.

Great little cafe definitely worth a visit. Totally recommend the muffins - good old fashioned home made light & fluffy! Good value & friendly service. Lots of seating options inside & out - also a little gallery out the back with la variety of treats.

Stopped here for coffee & cake before our kayak trip. Cake was lovely & coffee excellent. Enjoyed it so much we went back for lunch after the kayaking.
Minor issue was the kitchen closes at 2.30

Excellent value for money, recommending the Kiwi Burger, exceptional. Shame to see a few customers not willing to wait for service due to the restrictions that Covid was placing on the staff.
Thank you for working so hard
