A restaurant waiter in Cogne recommended us this place for good quality wine so we came here. Indeed an excellent wine shop. Being new in Aosta valley, we asked the shop person about local wine but we felt he was not so interested in our...custom, not much motivation. May be he was shy or tired or having a headache?? (better put it this way..and the shop was not busy at that time, just us two and a local frequent customer)..... The customer noticed our interest in wine and volunteered to walk us through the different wine in the shop and good wine producers in Aosta . How good is that ! We come from the neighbouring wine making region, our family make wine and we love wine. See you guys next time.More

Varied menu with great choices Both our meals were excellent and even though they were caught slightly off guard from being very busy the service was still excellent and charming especially from the owner Great wine selection as well Slightly on the pricier side but...still good valueMore

This was our second visit to Cogne, but our sixth visit to this restaurant/inoteca. The food is fantastic, the selection of wine amazing and the atmosphere is relaxed and not one bit pretentious. The owner Sabina and her staff are very friendly. If you like...your wine, this is the place to visit. A huge selection and great advice from Sabina (the owner). Also, the price is great 👍.More

The quality of the food is OK. The service is very poor as soon as the number of people is high. They are stressed by people. The selection of fresh food, wine, spirits and beers is incredible!

Whilst staying in Cogne we ate at this restaurant, a real hidden treasure. Once for lunch, then booked for dinner. We had the duck, the venison, ravioli ragu, wild pig tagliatelle. Everything was fantastic. They also have a top notch wine cellar, filled with some...great Italian wines. For a small additional fee you can choose a wine from their cellar and drink it at your table in Riedel glasses and decantered for you. This place is great.More

After returning from our trek up to Rifugio Vittorio Sella, late on a Saturday afternoon, I contacted a restaurant in Cogne and got an immediate full up answer. My next call was to La Cave de Cogne which I knew to be a much smaller...restaurant, in retrospect I was surprised that they had a table for me at 19:30, I say that because after eating I thought that this restaurant should be the busiest in Cogne. The place is basically a shop that sells wine and provides wine tasting. In the past few years they have added a 10 table restaurant and a daily menu by chef Jun Nakajima - yes he is Japanese - of a mix of local Valdostan (food of the Valle d'Aosta) and Italian dishes. I wanted to eat typical local food "Valdostan", and we asked what they had on the menu that complied with our demand. The answer was the typical cabbage soup, a crepe with melted cheese and mushrooms, and the Polenta Valdestana. Since at our age we cannot eat too much at this late hour, we ordered one soup for the two of us and had our waiter recommend a wine to go with it. The soup arrived on a very hot plate served to us graciously by Chef Jun himself. The soup is a cabbage soup that has pieces of bread, meat, and molten Fontina cheese in it; it tasted and felt so good I was sure that any farmer coming home to this soup would have felt that no matter how hard and cold it was outside it was worth it! Our waiter recommended two wines, my wife had a Pinot Noir - good - and I had a Torrette - very good. Next we shared the crepe, the cheese inside was the local fondue mixture, and on top a Bechamel Sauce. Definitely a gourmet dish. Next we had the Polenta Valdostana. Polenta is a coarsely ground Maize flour typical of Italian food, what made it Valdestan was cooking it with molten Fontina Cheese. Our dish didn't have molten cheese on top but somehow the polenta and the molten cheese were combined together - tasted very good. Again we asked for a wine recommendation, my wife went with the Fumin - excellent - and I stayed with the Torrette - went fantastically well with all the dishes. We ended with a desert, chocolate cake for my wife (tasted like molten dark chocolate, beautiful) and I had a three layers of of creams of something that I do not remember what they were (good taste - a bit too sweet for me) The waiter was great, courteous, patient and helpful. He spoke English & French as well as Italian. I highly recommend Chef Jun who served us each dish, a statement of how proud he is of each dish, as well he should beMore

The food was outstanding. Sabina, the owner, took care of every detail. My daughter needs gluten free and she and the cooks had many options including pasta. They also have a great wine selection and she walked me through many of the local offerings. There...is a garden area out back for outside, mountain view, seating. From the front the cave looks like a small boutique store. Don't let this fool you. It is a hidden little gem with some of the best food, wine and service you will find.More

this is my favorite restaurant in Cogne. The food is excellent, everything we had was delicious, starting from the misto di salumi e formaggi, to dessert. We stayed 3 days in Cogne and went 3 times! I will definitely go back.
