Beautiful balcony meal alfresco

Celebrating daughters 20th birthday on December 27th. We called in earlier to have a look around, chose our table outside on the balcony. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We brought our own birthday cake which they happily presented to my daughter and then served it to us, there may of been a small fee, I can't quite remember, but if there was it was tiny. The food was lovely enjoyed by all. It was a very quiet evening we had the balcony to ourselves, though there were other diners downstairs. Very enjoyable.

Lunch was sumptious.

Had a rib fillet cooked to perfection and plentiful vegetables. My companions liked their meals - Thai fish cakes; Barramundi with spinach and feta; Salt & Pepper Squid, all reasonably priced and good size portions. Service was brilliant and the staff so friendly. A great lunch. Comfortable and breezy with a view from the verandah. Quality time.

Birthday extravaganza

We went for a birthday lunch and have to admit Dave and his crews service were second to none! We had 4 servings of the delicious nth qld scallops which were to die for yay! We also had 4 courses of the reef snd beef in 3 different levels from well done to rare cooked perfectly . Wow the grass fed steak just fell apart , the bugs and the generous amount of prawns melted in your mouth and im from nth qld ! My wife had the delicious seafood platter and i was shocked of the amount of seafood. Luckily i got some . Thanks to dave and the crew best birthday ever!! Seafood frsh and delicious

Disappointing.

After dining at Barefoot AFW last week here on beautiful Magnetic Island and enjoying it immensely we were keen to return. I was going to rate it five stars after the first visit but held off writing a review until after our next dinner (tonight) which would be a 2 star due to the following. This second dining experience was pleasant other than the FISH. Fish of the day was barramundi, but far from fresh and delicious, it was strong smelling and tasted awful. We informed the waitress and asked for this to be passed on to the chef and were told that's how it is. We were told by the waitress the fish is FROZEN but usually tastes ok supposedly. Well it didn't, and to be served fish like that is a disgrace, even more so that the restaurant does not care. They were sorry for our experience, but, shrug, oh well. Staff are nice enough, setting lovely, vegetables good, but I'd go thousands of miles to avoid tasting the fish they served me again.

Take Away Coffee

I do not recommend their latte or mocha. First attempt the drinks were cold. He reheated using steamer which made them taste like hot milk. Third attempt he remade them and they were a good temperature but the coffee taste was not very good. I would not spend my money there again on their coffee. The staff that served us was friendly.

Lovely setting and food quite good but these idiots in the time of Covid want to keep charging you a penalty for using a credit card while everyone else is insisting you do so. This is on top of the usual annoyance of restaurants ever charging a 1% penalty when you are spending $35 on a main course. They might one day have to enter the modern world but in the meantime I won't be there again.

Great food and wine

Can't fault the food home the wine options and the service. Then there is the location, across from the blindingly beautiful Horseshoe Bay, add yachts bobbing in the sea, white sand and the azure ocean to provide a spectacular palate while you enjoy fresh seafood and all the other yummy menu options. A little touch of class on the coast.

Fabulous Restaurant and Pet Friendly!

We had a really wonderful Dinner at Barefoot. There was 6 of us and also 2 puppies. The Waitresses were brilliant, really attentive and so very happy. The seating at the back of the Restaurant was so well designed and was instantly comfortable with their soft lighting to enjoy the evening. Our meals were Amazing and Divine and the quantities were just right. Also the Menu had a really great variety of meals to suit everyones tastebuds. The Art leading down the hallway to the back Dining area suited the whole relaxed feel. The music was set at the right level so you can still chat away comfortably without yelling. Great location and very easy to find. We will be back again!

a quiet tropical garden setting back from street

We sat down i (in rather uncomfortable wooden slat chairs, I grabbed a cushion from a nearby bench seat!) We chose fish of the day, barramundi served with vegetables and a delicious sauce, Well worth $38. I chose the vegetable ravioli. It was good with a tantalising cream sauce. A pleasant visit.

We were warmly greeted and as we had booked the waitress took us to the back where all the tables were for dinner and offered us a choice on tables which was nice. The atmosphere is great with lovely trees and lights around the deck and music playing softly in the background. The menu choices had some good options and we were also informed before we even asked about the Fish of the Day, We ordered Fish of the Day and Prawn and Scallop pasta entrees size. Both dishes were very tasty , with the fish not over cooked and the vegetables cooked just right, prawns and scallops in the pasta was fresh and generous amounts with the pasta. The waitresses were both very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant and just sorry we found this restaurant on our last day as would have loved to try their other dishes.

My rating reflects our overall dining experience rather than the food itself. I had booked a table for two for dinner at the restaurant, some 6 weeks in advance. I called the restaurant a couple of days prior to the date of booking to reconfirm. So, I was really taken aback when we showed up on time at the restaurant, they did not have our table ready ( we were told that the table they had allocated was outside and cause it is raining, they offered to seat us at a table right outside the toilets!). In the end, we agreed to wait for another 15 -20 minutes and were then assigned a table on the verandah! The restaurant had a covered area upstairs and one would expect those who booked in advance would be seated/assigned a table that guaranteed a food experience! The food was nice and the service was also fine once we secured a table. However, I was extremely disappointed with how our booking was handled.

Looking forward to taking the family out for a nice dinner. Both daughters had the ravioli which they both enjoyed but sadly my husband and son's reef and beef steaks, which they ordered medium, came out well done and tasteless. Hubby said the bugs tasted as if they had been frozen for years. Chef looked totally disinterested in being there. Piña colada cocktails also a big let down. Luckily We enjoyed the house wine, only 2 choices of sav Blanc though and wasn't going to pay $79 a bottle for the other choice.

Such a disappointment! Booked our table 2 days in advance. Looked forward to a great dining experience. Wonderful ambience ends there. Husband ordered Beef and Reef, cooked Rare, major fail, overcooked and sauteed vegetables obviously pre cooked. He waited 20 minutes with an empty beer. My Pumpkin and Spinach Ravioli main was scrumptious but only 3 ravioli, barely the size of an entree. Manager asked how was the meal, so I said great but far too small. He said "Sorry that's the portion size" and walked off. Then we were made to feel like lepers, and left sitting with dirty dishes while the staff cleared every empty table around us. Don't go there!!

AVOID GETTING RIPPED OFF !!

Check your bill. We were overcharged & not the first. Owner / manager charged us for seafood platter for 2 when we had seafood platter for 1. Difference of $46. He refunded us when we brought it to his attention & looking at the receipt, it clearly said one seafood platter. Checking other reviews after the fact, many customers have been ripped off by this establishment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! It’s such a shame as the food was good. Staff are lovely. Owner……dishonest.

First day on Magnetic Island, we visited for lunch and had the barrimundi chowder with delicious soda bread and some scallops. All just perfect and one of our best chowders ever! Great place with front, inside and rear deck seating. Reasonable pricing too.
