Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cold beer in a bottle, and that is as far as it goes. Unfriendly staff, overpriced; typical €15 for a starter, €25 main, €10 dessert, no plat-du-jour.

This was recommended by our guesthouse and we found it to be a charming country place serving typical French provincial food. Not 'gourmet' but a very enjoyable set menu for a reasonable price.

Friendly and welcoming. Good menu choice but I had the worst confit de Canard I have ever had. I could not cut it with a steak knife and even had trouble with my fingers and teeth. The rest of my group had the fish. That would have been a better choice.

We had dinner on the Canal du Midi at this charming restaurant last night. The salad with goat cheese was amazing and the white fish was outstanding. The Viogniei local wine was memorable. Lovely surprise....

We've eaten here several times traveling along the canal and never been disappointed. It's not Michelin starred but it IS a good honest local restaurant serving fresh food, well presented. The menu is essentially traditional fare incl duck magret, and confit, entrecote steak, and some fish dishes as well as gambas. Entrees include gravalax, fois gras, and charcuterie platters all of which are quite delicious. Service is quick , polite and courteous. The wine list is not large and not especially diverse but there is usually something for most tastes a and prices are very reasonable. There's a nice ambience and depending on temperature and weather you can sit inside or out. They also have a great little beer garden on the side which is delightful in the warmer weather. Looking at the other restaurants in town the fare is not as good, choices generally fewer and the value a lot less.

My wife and I had an excellent meal. The food was simple but well cooked and fresh. The service was friendly and reasonably timely. Perhaps a little expensive relative to some of the other good restaurants in the area, but well worth stopping if on the Canal du Midi or taking a detour if not!

We had a meal here from the set menu and it was absolutely lovely. Very traditional and well executed with fantastic service. We were glad we reserved as this place was so popular and every table was filled. Our table was right beside the canal du midi and the wonderful scenery added to an absolutely fantastic night. The only reason one star is knocked off is because there was no vegetarian option on the set menu, but to be honest, I had the duck and it really was delicious.

Dined here last year and had a pleasant lunch, so stopped by again for dinner when passing through in July. Pleasant service, the menu is pretty traditional with the usual subjects of steaks and duck of various cuts. Nicely presented, good portions and a pleasant moderately priced wine list. No surprises and a very pleasant evening.

We landed here by Bon chance heading from Carcassone to the Dordogne. The best duck leg I have ever tasted with mashed potatoes and honey glaze. My daughter had the pork ribs and my husband the duck breast with liver- all delicious. The chèvre salad perfect. The banana and whip cream in graham cracker crust pulled off just right. This is the France we came to experience and feel so lucky to find it here:)!

During two dinners in one week time, we experienced friendly staff, an idyllic atmosphere, top food, great service and everything fairly priced. All together: good value for money!

Found this place by chance waiting for the locks to open, decided to take a chance for lunch and were not disappointed. It was busy but service was fine, the food quality and value were excellent and plenty of choices on the menu or set menus. The wine list is modest but adequate for a decent lunch and next door there's an outdoor bar area with good music and great to relax in. An honest establishment offering good quality food at a reasonable price....we will return!

Leaving Castlenaudry we were told to make our way to Gardouch and have dinner at this restaurant we have no words to describe the vista, the quality of the food, the service and the general sense of amazement of finding ourselves at this very special place. The only way to arrive here in our estimation is on a canal boat on the Canal du Midi. Pull up, tie up and head to the restaurant for a meal. You will love it.....

A perfect setting but weather turned so we eat indoors which was small but what a great meal Our first visit and we are now hooked We choose the a la carte menu and we were so blown away by both the quality of the food and the innovative dishes The razor clams were simply cooked in garlic and parsley but wow perfect they melted in the mouth The duck salad was perfect and a breath of fresh air compared to other similar salads in the area The main course was also superb the duck again was sublime and the steak perfect as was the burger I know this will seem a strange main but was worth the risk not like any burger before really great and cooked rare (my choice) was fabulous The wine was also so good and great value for money when you taste the quality The deserts were also as good as the other courses we choose a take on Banofe pie which was worth a try Finally the staff were enthusiastic and a joy What a find alongside the canal de midi

This lock keepers cottage has been tastefully converted into a restaurant and bar with a small "brasserie" feel to it. Unfortunately, the weather was unseasonably inclement to eat outdoors and there are only a few covers indoors but this didn't detract from the warmth of the greeting and the place. I can imagine it's a great stopping off point for all the cyclists that can use the Canal du Midi piste. We, however, drove there as have been passing frequently with rumours that you couldn't book. Wrong! We were able to book a table in the evening but not sure about mid-day when it is always apparently busy when we pass by. The menu is relatively small but is excellent and going by the previous comments changes with the seasons. The quality shone through in the food we were served and the Razor Clams in Parsley were the best we've had since a visit to a Michelin starred restaurant in Le Touquet many years ago. Perfectly cooked and a nice quantity for a starter. The quality of the food was very apparent and was cooked to perfection or desire, depending on the item. The wines again were limited but excellent in quality and not too expensive. Service was very personal and a delight. There were obvious returning customers pleased to be back. Please don't expect a cheap quickie. This is a place that appears to care hugely about presentation quality and service and not meant to be a 'snack bar'. Bring your own picnic and eat it further down the footpath having had a drink at the bar if that's what you want. BTW the map is a little unclear. The restaurant is on the north side and parking is on the opposite side of the lock so you will have to walk over. Access by wheelchair would be a little difficult.
