Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First visit to Africa and not knowing what to expect made me a little nervous. Fears unnecessary, everyone at Ryan's Bay made sure every worry erased and every need meet! Room was comfy and food - was so yummy!!

I never wanted to leave! This beautiful hotel has the most incredible views, the most helpful and friendly staff, and every single meal was fabulous! Yvonne was incredible planning our safari! We had a group of 14 and she met every need wherever we went! Our drivers were the best and we were able to see the “Big 5” in just a day and a half! Kappanu (sp?) and Wilfred are so connected and know the best places to find animals. We had the most incredible time! Asanti!!

Great rooms and restaurant with super friendly owners and staff. THE place to stay in Mwanza - holiday or business (all international travellers of my company stay here).

Stayed here with my wife and 2 kids for 2 nights, the hotel is very nice with beautifully view of lake Victoria, nice pool, fantastic breakfast and they offered a very good room where we stayed with our 2 kids. However, the only down side is the prices they charge for the drinks and food. However, i don't mind staying there again, though will dinner and drinking out of the hotel.

The multi level construction of the dining area allows beautiful views of the lake as well as intimate corners for small groups. Service is prompt and friendly. A variety of Tanzanian beers are kept cold. An avocado and tomato salad was fresh with a nice balsamic dressing on the side, The presentation style could have highlighted the ingredients better. The house salad also used the balsamic dressing and had a pleasant variety of crisp ingredients. The szechuan pork was generous, but lacked the characteristic pepperiness. Other spices were present but muted. Prices were very reasonable. A variety of styles of fish dishes are on offer. The delicious Goan Fish Curry (tilapua) was prepared with coconut milk and highlighted with turmeric in color and flavor. Again, a little more of chilies would have been appreciated. The garlic naan was perfect.

Myself and my fiancée stayed in Ryan’s Bay before departing for a safari in Serengeti. The hotel has stunning views of Lake Victoria and has a lovely swimming pool with poolside bar. Food
in the restaurant is excellent , plenty of variety and great value for money. Location is excellent just a 5 minute walk into town. Staff are friendly and looked after us very well. Would highly recommend a visit!!

I have brought teams through the area many times in the last 7 years and stayed in many hotels. This is my favorite in Mwanza. The staff is great, rooms are large and accomodating with maintenance done more that most, and the food is good. I will continue to use the hotel and do not see a better choice as of yet.

Very welcoming staff upon arrival and quick check in.
Very clean large rooms with views to the lake.
Very good restaurant where you can also purchase drinks.
Centrally located to town and the ferry.
Bring insect repellent as you’re on the edge of the lake and there’s a high risk of being bitten by mosquitoes and contracting malaria.
Great vehicle parking and secure.
Lots of other restaurants around the immediate vicinity of the Hotel.
Plenty of taxis for a short trip into town.
My second best Hotel in Mwanza for my stays .... not far from the airport.

This place is on the expensive side for budget/moderate travellers - there is a good pool, strong wifi, a gym and an on-site restaurant. The food at restaurant is just okay and way overpriced BUT the property is spotless and excellently maintained, the staff and management are super friendly and ready to help with literally anything, and the view over the lake cannot be beat.

We stayed at Ryan's Bay for three nights while visiting a foundation. The hotel is central, clean, safe and friendly employees. The rooms are fair, with all you need. I recommend a room on the higher floor. There is a gym and nice pool too.

I won't stay anywhere else. The place is clean, near the water and the staff are attentive. We stayed downtown at Gold crest and it was the same price and awful. See that review. This is where I encourage all my colleagues to stay.

We got a table on the balcony and got to enjoy the wonderful birdlife surrounding the hotel. Sizzlers seem to be the thing to eat in Mwanza. Great service and food. Close to town

I have been there once with some friends. We had a nice evening, the place offer a terrace in the lake so you can enjoy it during your meal. Menu is various and you can choose among many kind of dishes, just the way of preparing it is not at the level we expected! Fish was too dry and almost burned, there was not enough salt...nothing special
