My wife and I usually come here once a year for a date night. Unfortunately, our recent experience was very disappointing. I ordered the two shanks and my wife, the Beef Wellington. My first shank was not tender and pretty disappointing. I wasn't excited to eat the second and gave half to my wife before trying myself. It was a vast improvement on the first. In fact, it was very tender. Unfortunately, the shanks were served in a thin and tasteless Nihari sauce that lacked substance and flavour. I wouldn't have minded if it had flavour, even though I prefer a Kiwi-style shank served with a slightly sweet mint flavour. Unfortunately, I had to add plenty of salt and pepper. The pastry on my wife's Beef Wellington was soggy and inedible. She said it was like it had been sitting around. Her potato gratin was dry and hard - again, like it had been sitting around, or God-forbid, heated up! Her portion size was also pretty miserable for a $49 dish. The two waitresses that night really needed training on how to serve and interact in a restaurant charging the prices they do. I expect a little more polish and finnesse. The Pakeha was too casual and the while the Filipina was nervous, at least she wasn't flippant. The male maitre d' was professional, although he seem to be giving the waitresses a hard time in front of customers which wasn't so cool. We may not make it back next year.

Stopped in for lunch, placecwas about a quarter full. Not overly welcomed by counter staff. Food was very slow, asked one waiter how long it would be, answer was i do not know we are busy, very poorly managed by all front of house staff. Only saving grace was that the food was good, which isthe only reason gave this place 3 stars. Will not be returning.

We had a quick breakfast and coffee prior to catching our ferry to Kapiti Island. These guys also provided our packed lunch for our island trip. The coffee is very good, there are GF options (and more than one which is great), and the whitebait fritters were outstanding. They didn't skimp on the whitebait and the batter had just the right amount of crispness around the outside. Our packed lunch was tasty, generous (savoury, sweet and fruit), & more than just a sandwich! We returned the following day for iced coffee and this was also very good.

Called in for a light lunch and the place was quite busy. Had to get a menu from the bar and go back to order as there was no wait staff available. We both had the Thai Prawn Salad that was absolutely dreadfull. It was completely overdressed with chilli oil that saturated and discoloured the salad. We had dreadful after effects as well which was unpleasant.

We tried this place right in the heart of Paraparaumu Beach. Great selection of cabinet food and a good lunch menu also. My wife had the Thai prawn salad gluten free. Loaded with prawns and flavour. I had the BLT. Both very good. Lunch and 2 glasses of wine cost 60 dollars and we agreed well worth it. Plenty of good options and plenty of G/F options. Would come back.

Called in for a spur of the moment breakfast, a couple of patrons only present, ordered from the menu at the counter, a big brekkie and bacon and eggs plus tea and coffee. Food came out after a bit of a wait considering the number of people present, takeaways coffees were also being served. Food was nice and warm, quantities not over large, the toast was delicious, the poached eggs well done and runny. Coffee was perfect but the pot of tea very small with only one cup minimum able to be squeezed from the very small pot.

I don't normally write negative reviews but had such an awful experience here, felt we should warn others! If I could give zero stars I would. Went here for a birthday lunch, after our main course we went back up to order some apple pie, this time an unfriendly older woman took the order. We asked for it to be warmed up with some cream and were charged extra, which wasn't a problem. A small squirt of spray can cream on the first plate, and as we know from experience, the spray can stuff is full of air and doesn't go very far, we asked for a little more (and would've been happy to pay more). However, rather than politely replying, she became very hostile and rude, saying that she had already given us a lot. She called over a man who I presumed was her husband and was talking to him about it in a language we didn't understand as they are Asian. She said something to us, which we didn't understand and asked her to repeat it. This seemed to make her even more angry, and she really flew off the rail then, yelling abuse at us, calling us cheap and to get out of her f***n shop etc etc! She didn't seem able to control herself and got louder and angrier and the profanities got worse. She came out from behind the counter to continue screaming and swearing at us. We were both in complete shock and horror that someone could react like that to something so minor, it was unbelievable. Even worse, three other male staff (including the possible husband) came out but seemed scared of her and did nothing to help calm her down but stand and stare. The husband ushered us out the door and once outside she was giving us the finger through the window! We couldn't believe how someone could treat anyone like this, let alone your own customers. I see on here and in other reviews that other customers have been harangued by her and from the reaction of the other staff, it appeared they weren't unused to this kind of abuse either. We were left shocked and shaken and needless to say the birthday lunch spoiled!

We are a family of 4 with 2 growing boys and excellent appetites. We’ve visited The Fisherman’s Table and Salt & Wood during our holiday but nothing compares to this place for quality of food and value for $$. Highly recommend the Fish Burger, Chicken Burger and Halloumi Salad. Staff were attentive, friendly and responsive. Simple food done RIGHT! My boys ate everything on their plate and loved it. Great to see a restaurant offer a quality menu without the hype. The cost of living is going up hospitality people so please deliver a good quality menu.

Group of 8 for lunch. Seating is spacious, service was great, everyone at our table ordered a different dish, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choice. Fresh fish, decent sized paua fritters, generous serve of battered plump prawns…a wide range of food on offer. Should also mention the generous glass of wine I chugged back. Delicious!

Have been here before for pretty good coffee and muffins, but I would not come back for lunch. I had the scallops which were ok, deep fried, with a thoroughly tasteless potato cheese cake. My partner had the chicken schnitzel BLT -again deep fried meat of average quality and tasteless chips. Pricing is good but if you want a flavoursome meal go elsewhere.

We love our coffee and 180's coffee is super consistent and delicious as i am a fussy coffee girl. The cafe we go to often as the food is always amazing and good size portions. Everything is home cooked which is what we love, crunchy bacon, perfectly cooked poached eggs, delicious hollandaise. I love the cured salmon and home made potato cakes. Alot of seafood on the menu which is really great with the cafe being so close to the coast so they can source locally caught fish which is super for the community.

Travelled with a small group March 2021.We enjoyed a choice of continental (muesli, yoghurt ,fresh fruit salad or the cooked brekkie (eggs, bacon, tomato and avocado with toast) . The only complaint I heard was that the servings were so large! The service was prompt, the coffee excellent. As this was part of our tour I don't know the cost but would recommend. For our set menu dinner we had a classic whitebait fritter entre on white bread and butter with a lemon wedge. Thumbs up. The majority chose a main of pan fried blue cod with a delicate sauce, carrots, broccoli and cheese topped mashed potatoes. Perfect. Dessert was a decadent brownie with a scoop of ice cream and raspberry drizzle. Plain cooking beautifully done. One of the nicest dinners I've had in a long time. Wish they were closer.

We visited this restaurant twice during our visit to Paraparaumu Beach and were impressed both times. The service is efficient and friendly. We had coffee and a delicious Pecan Pie for morning tea. For lunch we both sampled the very yummy battered blue cod and chips. The 180 degree location is perfect with sheltered outdoor seating with gorgeous views. Definitely to be recommended.

Dined here today for Christmas lunch with my mum and nana. Wait time was not that long and the food was delicious. I loved the presentation of the food and everyone thought their personal meal was absolutely delicious. I liked that the BLT didn't include a lot of sauces and aioli in the sandwich itself because in my eyes that would detract from the bacon, lettuce and tomato flavours. I liked that ketchup was served with the side of fries but I would recommend that the dishes that include fries include some ketchup. The prawns were cooked beautifully and I liked the crispy batter. This is a restaurant where you are required to go up to the counter to place the order because the wait staff don't come around to your table and ask if you're ready to order.

Great restaurant - we had drinks outside in the sun in one of the little courtyards. It was a bit breezy so we were glad of the sheltered glassed-in area. We went inside and sat by the window for our meal, my husband ordered paua fritters with half a dozen scallops as well. I had a Thai beef salad.. we were both very happy with our meals. I was really surprised that there weren't more people in this friendly little restaurant. It's in a lovely spot close to the beach and the food and drinks were great. A really nice place to watch the sunset. We'll definitely return.
