We had a lovely dinner here. We had the beef Te Awamutu (which is the same as beef Wellington!) and a chicken caesar salad. They were both yummy. Then we had a vanilla cheesecake which was really nice. The service was great. I’d recommend this place.

Had a fabulous lunch here with a friend. Hubby had Eggs Benedict which was beautifully cooked and presented with a sumptuous side of fries. My seafood chowder was delicious as was our friend’s chicken burger. Great attentive waiter. Will definitely be back

Two of our party arrived a whole hour early, and were made to feel very welcome. We all really enjoyed our meals, which were very well presented and tasted divine. Service was also excellent, we were surprised and delighted when a beautiful complimentary dessert appeared after dinner, complete with a candle, for the birthday boy.

15 of us selected Half and Half.
Waitress was very welcoming as we were the only people in the Restaraunt.
Menu was well varied.
Generally meals exiting the kitchen were abysmally slow. Some of us were finished before all meals were served. One And a Half hours between first meal and last meal served
Standard of meal was generally disappointing. Fish overcooked.. prawns in Rice bland and dry.. Nachos were very below par.The young waitress was brilliant and very apologetic when confronted with our gripes .. very professional and seemed embarrassed at times. She was the only redeeming factor in a negative experience
On our experience we could not recommend this restaraunt at all.
Let's hope this is not their usual standard

Staying near Te Awamutu on a short family holiday (with our teenage son) we decided on Half and Half for a dinner out. It was the perfect choice. The staff are professional and friendly, the decor is attractive and comfortable - you can sit indoors or out - and the food is amazing. The menu provides a good range of options and everything we ordered (a charcuterie platter and three different mains) was delicious. The quality of this place is evidently not a secret: although it was earlyish on a wet Wednesday evening the restaurant was busy and booking is advised. We will certainly be back next time we are in the area.

Went for dinner the other night was wowed. My wife who rarely tells me to put anything on trip adviser told I had to get on to this one.
First it makes an excellent Pina Colada and if you have ready any of my overseas reviews one of the musts, well priced at $13.
The food was well above average, we had the ceviche for starter really tasty, I have the beef wellington and my wife the fish of the day (Hapuka) she finished with the 4 petite ice cream dessert. All the dishes were great I could not finish my mains due to portion size, though don't eat big meals. Prices were good we have done some local comparisons and similar prices for better quality food here.
One of the owners was front of house knowledgeable on the food and drinks excellent service and great to chat with. Service generally was warm and efficient.
As a rule only comment on toilets that are very clean or have a wow factor theirs were clean and nicely decorated/presented.
There was much to like and nothing we didn't, our only regret is we didn't eat here sooner but are looking forward to our next visit.

We're locals and eat here often. Prompt, efficient and friendly service and a varied and interesting menu: the stuffed eggplant is an absolute winner. One of the best things about it is that there's a choice of vegie dishes - most places have 2, if you're lucky, let alone 3 or more, as these dudes do. Another bonus is the VERY comfortable chairs - a real plus for ageing bones. Strongly recommend for lunch or dinner.

Today a friend and I had lunch at Half and Half in Te Awamutu We were trying to see if it would be suitable to take a group (6) friends later in the month and it definitely was. The menu had several dishes that were different from the usual run of the mill meals on lunch menu. Today we had an open chicken sandwich with chips fried in duck fat....don’t know why duck fat but they were certainly tasty. Service couldn’t be faulted.
Just a word of warning, it is small so if a few of you going it would pay to reserve a table. There is one table that would seat about ten. We will be back.

We had been planning to visit Half and Half for a long time, and we were so glad we finally did. The food absolutely blew us away;we'd heard great things but it was even better than we were expecting. The beef wellington and mushroom pie were both to die for, as were the cocktails. The restaurant has a lovely intimate atmosphere, and also a a covered patio for functions. There's now no reason for people from Te Awamutu to travel elsewhere for fine food and drinks. But make sure you book, it was full to the brim when we were there. Can't wait to come back again.

Half and Half is a wonderful little restaurant. The decor, atmosphere, staff and most of all the delicious food is sublime. The Beef Wellington was melt in the mouth and the curry sauce that comes with it gives it the perfect twist. The creme brulee dessert was amazing. With a drinks menu that includes wonderful cocktails you cannot fault it. We always enjoy visits to Half and Half and can't wait for the next time.

The best restaurant in Te Awamutu hands down. The menu is fun, the food delicious and the drinks fun. My favourite is the beef short ribs followed by the fish of the day. And you have to try the Long Island Iced - it’s a spectacle.

You could be forgiven for bypassing this unassuming restaurants cosy entrance. However there is nothing small about food flavour, great choice or service here. If you are looking for a big treat this is where I totally recommend! There is nothing small about portion size, presentation is a feast for your eyes before you even begin to enjoy the fresh intense flavours.

Incredible Lunch! I googled restaurants in TA & this place came up, so my wife & I took a drive to try it. We were not disappointed. Incredible food, fabulous service & very reasonable prices for that kind of quality. It’s Jamie Oliver, Heston & a bit of Peter Gordon rolled into an intimate bistro in TA. If you like good food & don’t want to go to Auckland to get it, this place is for you! We’ll be returning for dinner soon!

Thoroughly delightful meal. Definitely will return. Everything seemed to have a brilliant twist to it. The ice-cream dessert was wonderfully different, service attentive, ambiance just right. Definitely for an adventurous diner.

This is a must visit place!, If i could give it 10 stars I would. The most beautiful food, Duck fat chips to die for! Lamb rack cooked to perfection. Topped off with the most beautiful creme brulee. Great friendly staff. We had a great night out here and will definitely be back
