This is by far my most favourite Italian restaurant. The food is always hot, fresh and full of flavour. Definitely recommend to others.

The decor here is interesting and pleasing. The staff are efficient and pleasant. The cannelloni was delicious; I highly recommend it. The tiramisu was okay; I prefer Wicked Sister's! This restaurant is good for families with kids old enough to reamin settled for up to...an hour, for couples, and groups.More

Lovely lunch with tables set out nicely. I didn't feel like the people next to me were in my space which was nice. Ordered a drink, but for $16 the cocktail was terribly small which was a let down for the price. Starter was Polenta...chips which were very crisp and too over cooked for my liking. I think these may be bought in frozen as this is the taste to them, no seasoning at all. I ordered Mushroom Risotto and added chicken for an extra $5 the chicken had no seasoning at all. The risotto would have been perfect without it as it had great flavour and the tasteless chicken was the let down. I was not asked how the meal was during eating the meal, but asked on leaving when paying. A little too late to be asking then. My empty glass was taken and I was not offered another drink till much after that and so I stuck with water, which was bought to the table on arrival. I didn't enjoy the flies in my table space while trying to eat, landing on my plate and constantly waving them off. There seemed to be nothing to keep flies away. I didn't enjoy this Osteria as much as I enjoyed my visit to Taupo's Osteria.More

Booked a birthday dinner for my wife for 6 o'clock fifth of January. We had scallops and prawn cutlets for entrees. For mains we had the most delicious 220g eye fillet tenderloin medium well done, with roast potatoes and veggies. The Osteria chefs are obviously...extremely talented people and the whole meal was beautifully presented. It was a memorable evening for us both. My wife received an ice cream from the waitress who sang happy birthday, with many joining in. Thank you Ata and Stanko for a great time, we will definitely be returning.More

Our experience at the Mt Maunganui restaurant where ten of us celebrated our friends birthday was so wonderful, we made a point of stopping at their Matamata restaurant on our way home next night (22/11). Boom!! Two for two! The same great food (ordered different...dishes and all was stunning.. generous portions, seasoned beautifully. Efficient but unobtrusive service. Our waiter/barman was hilarious. A bit camp (but sensitive to different personalities eg customer next door was sullen and quiet so waiter was courteous and professional, whereas my wife and l were up for a chat and a joke - LOVE LOVE LOVE your work!), very warm, engaging, professional. Another wonderful experience, we will make a point of returning when passing through, thank you! 🙏😍🥰More

We have been here several times and have really enjoyed it each time. The prawn and chilli dish is especially tasty. Also like the staff efforts in the soy allergy department

We were delighted with our evening spent in the company of our 4 adult children and their spouses. Osteria provided the perfect ambience (in the alcove), food and service (thank you Tina)!! To top it all they shouted us a bottle of champagne. Cant get...better than that!!More

We have recently moved to Matamata & want to support local businesses. Tonight we chose to dine at Osteria as we have spent time in Italy, enjoy Italian food and Italian hospitality. While the food was quite acceptable, it was not made with the love...and passion we expect from a restaurant. The wine selection was very poor, the music was inappropriate & we were disappointed that the Maitre 'd didn't even bother to ask if we had enjoyed our evening. The wait staff were lovely, but there is a lot missing from Osteria. Including us in the future.More

My daughter and son in law took my Grandaughter abd I to the Ostetia Restaurant. The food and the service was brilliant. I had the tenderloin steak abd I haven’t tasted a steak as good as that for quite a few years. Nothing was too...much bother for the staff, who were really friendly even though they were rushed off their feet. I can’t wait to go back again. Thank you to all the staff.More
