Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sunny seating, friendly staff, prompt service and excellent food. My husband raved about his eggs bene and my pancakes were some of the best I've ever had - maple syrup, berries, grilled banana AND poached pear! (Could have had bacon too at no extra cost, but thought that range of flavours needed no other enhancement.) We'll be back!

A choice of a big or little breakfast - and the little breakfast was a wonderful size!
Coffees delivered as we finish eating not before food. And they use nice coffee.
Packed and busy - early on a Sunday morning
Eat Cafe, Matamata gets a recommendation!

Wow
I stopped in for a takeaway coffee and noticed their scones, blue cheese & spinach , I couldn’t believe how yummy it was I wish I had bought the lot !!!
The flavour was fabulous
I am a savoury person and so many times I purchase a scone usually cheese and there is just no flavour BUT. My fellow scone lovers don’t miss trying Eats scones they are a taste sensation.
The coffee was very good also.
As I was waiting for my scone to be warmed and buttered the food being taken to tables looked amazing the presentation looked very high class.
I will certainly be stopping there again not only to buy the Blue cheese scones but try the other food

Eat.Cafe is only a small cafe on the main shopping street of Matamata. But the staff seem very good at accommodating a crowd of people for lunch. Tables and chairs are provided inside or on the footpath. Waiting time for food is minimal inspite of it being very busy. Staff are friendly and co-operative, and many choices of food are available.

Stopped off at Eat in Matamata after the Hobbit tour.
The five of us all had lovely meals / lunches - a couple of smashed avocados, ham and cheese omelette (was large) an eggs Benedict and BLAT.
Coffee was good too.
All in all a great please to go. Despite being really busy when we arrived there was hardly any delay in the meals.
Parking out on the street is easy too.

Three of us enjoyed brunch here yesterday. Creamy mushrooms were declared delicious and the other two dishes were the smashed avocado and feta with poached eggs, one with bacon and one with smoked salmon. Both delicious and really nicely presented.
Coffee was very good too.
The cabinet food looked extremely delicious as well.
Lovely friendly service.
Would recommend.

Delicious food. Hubby had the Eat burger after seeing another diner eating it...looked scrumptious & hubby said it was the best ever.
I had lasagne with salad & it too was vest tasty.
Coffee was hot and strong.
Service was quick given that the cafe was very busy.

We stopped in this café for a cup of coffee and a strawberry smoothie to go. Ordered the long white coffee and were very pleased with it. $5.00 NZD for a large (the small was $3.80). The smoothie was very sweet but tasted find for a pre-teenager.
The service was good. No restroom on the premises. It would be a nice place to sit and read while enjoying a cup of coffee. We’d go back.

Eat Urban used to be fantastic. Sadly, it is now worthy only of walking past, unless you like small, over-priced servings of very average food and "coffee" that is just milky water that tastes almost like it may have been in the same room as a coffee bean.
I believe the ownership has changed recently. It has not been for the better and it is not hard to see why the staff seem disinterested..
I won't be back any time soon. There are several better places to go within a minute's walk.

Parked outside on Main Street and popped in for breakfast without knowing any reviews. Counter service with amazing array of cakes on offer. It was busy but served promptly and ate inside. Fabulous food and drinks - coffees and healthy juice blends. Great value.

The place didn't look like much from the outside, but I stopped in for lunch and had their C.L.A.B. sandwich (chicken, lettuce, avocado and brie), and omg, to die for! It took a while to get, but it was worth every minute of waiting. The ingredients were so fresh, and made such a unique flavor combination.

Fabulous food great options for dietary requirements; dairy free and gluten free. Can take a while to get the food when the place is busy, but food definitely worth the wait.
Customer service was a bit poor and could do with improvement.

My husband and I both ordered the crisp chicken salad. The salad was freshly prepared, simple yet beautifully prepared as were the warm chicken tenderloins on top. One of the best salads I've ever eaten in a cafe.
The service was impeccable and friendly. The cafe itself was immaculately clean and pleasant. We will be back in future!
