During the Hobbiton tour we stopped here for about 30 minutes after touring the movie set. Very good theming and they offered 3 alcoholic drink choices and 1 non-alcoholic. They had a dark beer, amber ale, hard cider and a non alcoholic ginger beer. We tried the hard cider and ginger beer and enjoyed both.
They sell a variety of tempting snacks including scones, cookies, muffins and pies but we saved ourselves for Shire's Rest Cafe. They have a picture opportunity where you can put on some aprons, hats and a vest. This is also the only point in the Hobbiton set area where you can use the bathroom. The facilities are quite maintained and it is themed very well.
If you book the evening tour you can have dinner here but it is an included stop in any of the tours at present. Due to the construction of a new attraction on the movie set they included a complimentary "Green Dragon Inn" schooner as an apology/thank you which is available for a limited time as of July 2023.

As part of our tour of Hobbiton we had a meal and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) here. They had set up a market just outside with a wide selection of foods to try. They also had staff walking around with foods for us to try

After the tour one is allowed to enjoy a drink of sorts in this quaint Inn. It is not necessarily "free" because it is included in the price of admission. Although the tours are spread out it was a bit chaotic and because we had to get back to the bus we were unable to sample the food. Having said all that, the ale was a nice finish to a lovely experience.

Taking time at the Green Dragon after our tour with a fabulous beer!!! We had ample space to move around and really enjoy ourselves. Kicked ourselves later that we didnt get a famous meat pie to take away with us but we were too busy enjoying the atmosphere and surroundings at the time. It was a cool sunny day and sitting outside in the sun was the icing on the cake to a fab tour! Beer was fabulous! Ended up buying a bottle at the Gift Shop and our Tour Guide Shane told me where I can get a similar brew from the same brewers (Green Dragon beer is made as a special brew for them. )

Apple cidar and ginger beer all brilliant. Food fine. Don't forget the dessert. A mug would be presented to you, though you might not as well take it away. All the enviroment appeared to be "ancient" and natural. Impressive and cool. 尽量去吃午餐啊，提前订票即可。可以订当地旅行团。我们订的bush and beach专做奥克兰与周边，10来个人一个大面包包车，在city的酒店门口接人，比较便利。

My wife booked this and I was not overly keen on going....we did a tour of the shire and a banquet afterwards.
As soon as we hopped off the bus I felt like a child and was totally blown away at how awesome it was!
The tour guides were amazing and I had a few to many ciders at the end during the amazing banquet!
They are down to 20% of the people visiting pre covid so now is the time to visit for all you other kiwis who are thinking about going to avoid the crowds

We quaffed an ale and a hard (alcoholic) cider, after our tour of Hobbiton. The atmosphere in the Green Dragon is boisterous and noisy, with plenty of coming and going by the various tour groups (up to 4,000 people a day are funnelled through in the summer). Food was reasonably priced.

Our afternoon tour finished with a break at the pub. Beer and cider mugs were good and we had a cheese scone and beef pie which were excellent! Nice photo opportunity overlooking the lake and water mill

This was totally be a pub I'd visit most evenings after work to chill out with a beer and a great meal, if it was "real". If it was open to general public that's what I'd do! Very keen to do the tour again just to visit again.

Few things exceed expectations. The Hobbiton evening Banquet tour ending at the Green Dragon Inn is just one of those experiences you can't put into words. Pay the extra, stay longer and just do this tour. Like me I think you will fall in love with the ambience of the Hobbiton Movie Set and the Green Dragon Inn.

Took the lunch tour and couldn’t get over how amazing the experience was. We started with our tour. Our tour guide was absolutely fabulous and did earn so many brownie points by helping one of the elders in our group (thanks Dan). The best part was the banquet and the service and the chats. Meeting and chatting with the all the different people all’s of life was an absolute highlight for me.
Looking forward to returning again always a fantastic experience heading to the shire 😎

Great experience. The Dragon is only available to people who take the tour. But there is a cafe at the beginning of the tour where we bought some yummy scones, muffins and hot chocolate.
