Visited on a Friday and Paeroa town itself was very busy. You could easily spot the difference between the visitors and locals by those who were wearing masks! The locals weren't bothered. The cabinet food at this cafe looked delicious and good options for vegan/GF eaters....The pork belly sandwich was a bit dry however and the pork overcooked. Their Curried Kumara Pie was lovely but didn't come with any side. Sweets were very nice and coffee was ok. None of the staff however were wearing masks although some had them nestled under their chins... so effective. They were pleasant enough but not "hospitable". Given we're being asked to support local and we had travelled specifically to Paeroa to "support local" for the day, we were disappointed in the service overall. Visiting all the antique and collectable shops we only received welcoming service from the newsagent store and the main antique shop. Honestly the man at the Vintage and Retro shop didn't look up from his phone from the moment we entered to when we left. To his credit he DID slip his mask up onto his face when I coughed from a hay fever throat tickle!More

My daughter took me out for lunch. We decided to try the Courtyard at a busy lunch time. Excellent choice. The range of food and treats was great. Could not resist a slice of Carrot Cake with the unfinished piece bought home for supper. The...service was very good, the young man outstanding. An extremely clean and tidy cafe with tables sufficiently spaced to keep customer groups safe. Thank you.More

Nice little spot to stop off in and enjoy some brekkie/lunch especially if you get a chance to sit on the courtyard and soak up the day. Food was very nice and the coffee was really good. Very much recommended if you’re in the area

Stopped here for morning tea on the way home to Cambridge. It looks unprepossessing from the roadside but lovely inside. Coffees were excellent as were the croissant, scone and muffin. We sat in the pleasant courtyard at the back and enjoyed a leisurely morning tea....We'd certainly be back but i wonder how many potential customers are deterred by the lack of street appeal. A bit of paint and colourful signage would do wonders!More

Had lunch and coffee. Great food, (the burger was fabulous), good coffee. Ambience leaves a little to be desired but on the whole a good place to stop for brunch/lunch

We had breakfast here before starting a cycle trail. My sons were OK, but both my wife and I had diarrhea right after breakfast. I suspect there was something wrong with what we ordered.

Great spot to pop in and grab a quick bite to eat or pick up some take away goodies. Great bubbly staff and professional service well done to Jesse and Adele for all the hard work

We ended visiting this cafe twice, once just for takeaway coffee and once for lunch. Both times, everything was very good. Loved the warm enclosed area in the back, it was like a sunroom. The mushrooms on ciabatta toast were delicious and the red velvet...coffee was really different. Plus they have beautiful pottery there to purchase, like keep cups and bowls with lids. Very cool place!More

We stopped in for brunch before hiking the Karangahake Gorge Windows Walk. The staff was friendly and the service was quick and efficient. We enjoyed the salmon and caper pie and the egg and ham frittata in their indoor "courtyard". Good eats!

The lamb pie was fairly good but the pastry was soft, probably from the microwave. The side salad was mediocre. My partner had a mix of 2 salads and said that the chicken one had a decent amount of meat. Generally OK but others nearby...ordered pork belly sandwiches which looked more promising. If this is the best in Paeroa there should be loads of opportunity for a young chef!More
