Relaxed, modern unpretentious dining. And drinking!

The only restaurant that i know in the Takaka area. Everything else is pub grub or takeaway etc. To say that this is a relief is an understatement as traditionally it is almost impossible to run a dining facility in a location as remote as this. Yet it remains open through the winter months which can only be a testament to it's popularity. I went for a mixture of the smaller dishes and opted to relax in the lounge instead of a table which the staff were only too happy to effect. The kale salad was the perfect accompaniment to a selection of olives/cheeses/sprouts etc. I would recommend them all. Perfect service and prompt delivery. Historically this place has really struggled so i am very happy to see someone finally do something of real value here. We will be there again asap. Anyone looking to have a great quality intimate dining experience will find, as said, that this is the only place in town. Maybe next time i will review the drinks menu and further explore their jazz and rare groove records. Well done the Dada team

not bad for Takaka

We had dinner with the family, and basically ate through the whole menu (well, its not that extensive). Great food, we loved the shrimps and the lamb, and the chicken and the beef not too bad either. Maybe a bit more bread would have been good - mains are basically meat. However - all well prepared and fast. We liked them all, though one of the meals did disagree with me ... probably the (medium rare) beef. Staff was supportive while I had an reaction, but not so supportive when I tried to find out the ingredients of the food disagreeing with me. Oh well. Still - I survived and still the best food we found in Takaka, worthwhile trying.

Delicious food. Beautiful setting.

On a hot January eve we slowly sipped on the ice-cold gourmet G&T’s, whilst sitting on your shady patio listening to groovy music. The lamb skewers- a generous portion- were perfectly flavoured, and the chosen side of roasted spicy cauliflower was accompanied with the most delicious sauce. Our group also enjoyed the kale salad, and the poultry main. The chardonnay was served ice cold. Friendly and efficient service by your waiter. It was a great experience overall. Thank you so much. We will be back

Good food served with bad attitude towards costumers

We visited Takaka and were looking forward to a special dinner èxperience. We like vegetarian fòod and do enjoy fine dining. Unfortunately, it was the worst attitude towards costumers we ever had experienced in NZ. The lady with the American accent was shockingly rude, and not just towards us. She treated us and others like dumb children that need to be told how to behave in her territory. Her comments were clearly based on her own assumptions about people and her own expectations to fully follow her instructions. She was disrespectful, tactless, and arrogant towards us and others sitting next to us at a different table. It is a pity since the meals were good quality. We for sure will not eat there again.

No fluffing good

I give one star as the waitress was actually lovley. Ordered bread with hummus, bread had obviously been cooked on the chargrill. No complaints there as a chef I know this looks and tastes better. As nearly finishing I notice that the bread was covered in fluff, obviously this was from the bread being too hot and put into a towel as they plated the dish and I said I understood how that happened to the waitress and asked her to make the chefs aware. Next up we had the Kale salad and the pumpkin salad both tasted great very good flavors but the was fluff on the salad too 😳 I couldn't believe it and I couldn't even fathom how it got there. The (what I assume) head waitress came over, apologised, took the plate to be re done and said order anything off the drinks menu and it shall be for free. Wonderful I thought, I shall try that expensive cocktail I was eyeing up! Salad was redone, flavors were great, asked for the bill and nothing had been taken off 🤦‍♀️ I pointed this out to our waitress whom replies "I'm so sorry they said they would take the Ginger beer off". The bill had already been paid so she went over to get the small amount of money that we were so kindly reimbursed for the Ginger beer. As she came to me a told her to keep it as a tip. I will not be going back to this place and I seriously hope they up their standards from this.

I think 1 start is a bit harsh considering how many factors one should take into account when writing reviews, atmosphere, service, menu, selection, flavours all sound like they were enjoyed by you. You must visit Dada!

I love this place! Everything was outstanding - the setting, service, ambiance and, of course, the food! We were served by Zoe, who attended to us with the perfect combination of attentiveness and reservation, and answered all questions for us with ease. We were sat in the leafy garden, nestled in the dappled shade. All the food was beautifully presented and delicious! We had the ceviche, scallops, beef carpaccio, fish main wrapped in banana leaf, kale salad (what was done to this to make kale taste this good I’ve no clue but that chef deserves celebration) and woah, those Parmesan truffle chips are next level! Then the cocktails and wine… I’m going to stop now as you need to find out for yourself. Best meal ever!

Best eatery in Takaka

Dada Manofesto an odd name for a suprisingly wonderful place. The outside space is palm covered and encircled with native plants. The music is eclectic, subtle and not too intrusive. The food here was simple yet different to the usual. We had the aromatic olives and the spicy prawns to share and they were both excellent. My companion had the fish in Banana leaf and I had the sliced beef. Both were perfectly cooked. If you are looking for a chill night with great service, food and ambieance, this place is it. As I write this I have returned to have a couple of quiet three boys beers in the front garden bar. Dada Manifesto might be the strangest name for one of my favorite bar/restaurants in NZ. But I'll be back tomorrow to eat again.

We just love DaDa Manifesto, the food is delicious. We had the zucchini with strachitteli cheese and hot nuts, the creamy pasta with chorizo and prawns, and the waygu steak with a delicious roast red pepper sauce. All the dishes were super yummy. A lovely bottle of Primitivo wine from south Italy, and a mai tai cocktail, even the garnish was beautiful with a slice of dried pineapple. We finished the meal with the churros and chocolate sauce and also a caramel sauce. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. To describe the food is a beaut mix of Latin American/ Spanish. A winner every time.

Hidden Gem

Me and 4 friends stumbled upon this awesome place on new years day. When we first walked in, we weren't sure what to expect as we were just hungry/hungover and looking for anywhere that would take us. GOODNESS were we blown away. The staff were incredibly friendly and patient (especially as I stopped them to ask for two more drinks, because... juice and iced coffee was apparently not enough) the food was fine dining at its best. The flavours of everything burst in our mouths and I described it as someone giving my tummy a big hug! Definitly a highlight of the new years holiday. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful experience.

We were a party of nine, comfortably seated outdoors. The food was amazing, each dish was beautifully cooked using a wide variety of local ingredients. The service person was attentive, friendly and helpful. We will come again!

Thoroughly yummy experience

We were a group of four, who will definitely return as it was well worth it. We shared dishes and couldn't choose a favourite, as every dish had subtle flavours that didn't disappoint. The waitress was friendly and the service was prompt and efficient. We didn't make a booking and had to sit outside, which was not ideal, (a teeny bit chilly).

Visiting Tākaka and last night just discovered my new favourite restaurant in Aotearoa NZ! Everything, from the decor, ambience and staff to the food were just perfect! The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We had a variety of dishes including the warmed olives, spicy prawns, zucchini and more and all were delicious. Some shared the venison and reported that it was amazing. The highlight for me was the sambal fish dish. Absolutely stunning! So good that we intend going back again tonight! Can't recommend highly enough. Superb!

Gorgeous experience

A visual delight both inside decor & incredible foliage and funky seating in the garden seating. Service lady was fantastic. I had alcoholic ginger beer &we had beef carpaccio, skewered lamb and scallops dishes were next level beyond divine.

Best Tapas Ever

Beautiful food brought out continuously to our table of 4. We ordered a couple of repeat dishes after the first round, because they were so yummy. Waitress was witty and charming, and the food was brought out very quickly. Overall couldn't fault anything and will go there again next time we are in Takaka.

Worst dinner experience.

Had an unbelievably unpleasant night. Mainly due to the male behind the bar. Apparently he is the owner of the establishment. He has a manner that is not suited to hospitality! He took our order eventually, then came back 20min later saying he had forgotten to give it to kitchen. He also seemed to have lost what we ordered. So we ordered again. He was apologetic about it but he was uncomfortable. 10 min later he returned saying one of our dishes was sold out. Ok. Still we waited. And waited. Eventually we got our food an hour and a half after we arrived. The food was good but we were hungry. We were offered a free drink but it took 10min to arrive. We felt very unwelcome. When I paid the bill the dish that we never got was on the bill. He offered no apology when I paid bill. I was gonna say something but I could tell I would be wasting my time. I am fairly confident this will be the worst restaurant experience I ever have. And I plan to live another 30 yrs.
