Good Thai food

Went there for lunch. The food quality was much better than we expected in a small isolate town in the northern part of the South Island. At lunch the prices are very reasonable and while the portion size might be, a as they said smaller than for dinner there was real value for money. But it really was the food that made the impression. Unfortunately not a BYO for like many similar restaurants the wine list was limited but beer at lunchtime was welcome.

Great new Thai place in Takaka

This unassuming eatery is located on the Main Street, two up from the Organic Shop. The front of house is clean and tidy and the welcome encouraging. The lunch (and dinner menu) is quite extensive with old favourites and some new meals I'm keen to return and try. We had Cashew Nuts Stir Fried with Crispy Chicken, Chicken Satay and Yellow Curry (Tofu). Even though the eatery was starting to fill with customers, the server managed all front of house plus takeaways and delivering meals to the table. The food was delicious and is a definite and positive addition to the eateries in the Bay. Cost wise, our meals plus two soft drinks was $29 - really good value. Evening meals do cost more for the same meal but I'm used to that from my time outside the bay. I see they have great options for ordering takeaway and wish them well as they started their new business just before the Level 3/4 lockdown. I really want to see them succeed.

a wonderful addition to Takaka!

Everything was spot on here. The flavors were wonderful, the atmosphere is very pleasant, the food was delivered hot and promptly. Clearly a winner for us. We had the Tom Yum soup, Green Curry Pork, Chicken Larb. all good choices.

Authentic Thai food

We've had some great thai food but this was certainly up there in our ratings. The service was fantastic, Francesca was very friendly, efficient and very accommodating. All the food is cooked fresh and you could certainly taste this. The summer rolls were delicious and our stir fried dishes; one with prawns and one with pork belly were full of lovely crunchy veggies. Prawns were cooked to perfection and plenty of them, the crispy pork wasn't very crispy but otherwise the dish was great. They had certainly perfected the heat levels so if you do request hot or extra hot etc you will get what you want. Would've certainly have dined again if we had been staying in Golden Bay longer but will certainly make a visit back.

Excellent food and friendly service

We came here for dinner about 6pm, when we arrived there was only one other couple and within about 10-15 minutes of arriving, the place was full. We received a warm friendly greeting, were seated at a table and given menus to peruse. Water and glasses were bought to our table. There’s plenty to choose from on the menu. I had the Ginger Stir Fry and my partner had the Tom Yum Fried Rice (Thai hot) we both chose the combination where you get chicken, pork and beef. We also ordered a roti. After a short wait our meals came out and wow the servings were huge. My ginger stir fry had so many delicious vegetables in it and a good amount of meat too - it was so big I momentarily forgot it would come with rice until that was bought out. At one point I said to my partner are you actually eating that because it didn’t seem to be going down, the plate looked just as laden as when it came out. Luckily neither of us had eaten much that day otherwise we would have been taking leftovers with us. If you want a large healthy, tasty meal then definitely come here.

I’ve waited for 30 years for a Thai restaurant to open up here in little old Tākaka. It’s arrived and what a brilliant restaurant it is. Lovely decor, great service and best of all fantastic Thai food. We have had visitors staying here at our bnb and also family who say it’s the best Thai food they have tasted in NZ. I agree. Good portions and I think if they keep doing what they are doing then they will become the no 1 restaurant in Golden Bay. They are already for me. The Duck curry is to die for

Really good Thai place

Great Thai food in....Takaka of all places! Awesome menu with familiar Thai favourites alongside some more innovative and contemporary dishes, large portions, nice friendly atmosphere and staff. We were lucky to get a table without booking as it became very busy later in the evening with tourists and locals alike. Definitely recommended.

Great Thai restaurant in Takaka

We had dinner here with a friend and our eight year old grandson. The food was fresh tasting and delicious, lots of lovely crisp vegetables and perfect rice. Service was prompt and pleasant. A great find.

Red duck curry, perfect!

The red duck curry was amazing, best Thai food I've had since visiting Thailand nearly 20 years ago. Compliments to the cheg and the service was also excellent. There are so many hidden gems in this region and this is definitely worth finding.

Amazing as usual

I recently had Red Duck curry in a Nelson Thai restaurant with friends but not a patch on the same dish here at O’sha. Was no comparison. Don’t change anything O’sha as you are onto a winning formula. So pleased we have our own Thai here in Takaka

Delicious food and friendly service

We picked up takeaways this evening for the 5 of us, 4 adults, 2 kids. We finished eating an hour ago and everyone’s still talking about how yummy the meal was so I thought I’d hop on and write a review. This is really flavourful Thai food, so delicious. Spice levels were perfect. Really friendly service. I highly recommend it.

Best place ever!

What an amazing place! So glad we walked in here on a cold winters night. The food and incredible service warmed us right up. The meals were delicious and so fresh we didn’t want to leave. It was a real highlight for us eating here, the roti and red curry was beautiful. The only add could be some cushions on the seats. Thank you so much O’Sha team, we love you and can’t wait to come back!!!

Less is More!

O'Sha is a popular spot and on the night we visited there were lots of diners. The restaurant is tastefully furnished and decorated and had a relaxed vibe. Despite being on her own the host was pleasant and well organised throughout. The Thai food we were served had flavour and spice however the portions were far too big and were overloaded with vegetables. Sadly this lessened the enjoyment of our meals. This is definitely a Thai with potential, but smaller portions will help customers to enjoy and appreciate their food more.

Late Lunch Takeaway since closed early

Thank you for the awesome chicken fried rice and chicken in cashew nuts.Girl was super nice asked extra mile question if we wanted hot and even said can do takeaway as they were closing soon.we were from Auckland driving past thought to stop. Worth it to visit small towns and support locals
