Great food and good service. Lovely pizzas and salads. Tastey traditional alioli & fresh bread starter. Beautiful canal side location with a peaceful view of mountains overlooking the harbour.

Situated by the sister hotel this small restaurant overlooking one of the canal inlets. Not a large menu but enough choices for most I think. We both had Escalope Champinon (Weiner Schnitzel with mushroom sauce) & were very happy even though the portion sizes could...have fed a family of 4. A little pricey. Good attentive service.More

We went on a tour to Costa Brava and Cadaques that is another nice city nearby, we made a boat trip and it was really good but the best part was the delicious paella we ate at Portofino with creme brûlée for dessert! This restaurant...certainly is a must. We were pretty sure we would have a good paella at Spain and if you go to Costa Brava please don't look for other places, go straight to Portofino!More

Friendly staff, fresh (fish) dishes. We ordered a couple of starters to have a tasting. They serve good selection of (Spanish) wines. Starters were all delicious. Relatively big portions. Try their mussels, really nice in tomato sauce. Also their fish salts are good. There is...a small terrace outside, we preferred to sit inside where you have beautiful view on the boats and canal. It is a busy restarant and has a lot of tables inside.More

We were greeted warmly and friendly by all the staff, who gave us a choice of tables. Although it is December the place is often quite busy, and not surprising when you taste the food, I had Scallops followed by lamb chops accompanied by the...house red, a fine Rioja. The maitre d' was very attentive as we're all the staff. Excellent value for money followed by a visit to the Irish pub for a Guiness.....excellent night. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g673856-d751589-r332393555-Portofino-Empuriabrava_Costa_Brava_Province_of_Girona_Catalonia.html#More

Had the Lubina a la sal (salt cured sea bass) and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The fish is first brought out on a trolley completely covered in salt, then it is doused in a liquid and set on fire. After the flames...subside, the server fillets the fish using only a fork and spoon to demonstrate the tenderness of the fish. The flavor was fantastic, it was some of the best fish that I've ever had. Definitely not a place to go if you are on a budget though.More
